But what concerns me here is the impression I have been getting that Google search has been on a serious decline in quality for some time

Today I used ChatGPT for teh very first time with a serious query, rather than as a plaything, after getting frustrated with Google search. And I must concede it gave a far superior, digestable and usable answer.

Sooo.. Germany is capable of bringing mothballed power plants online. But only coal power plants, not recently shut #nuclear plants? You gotta be kidding me.

@gpdawson I’d suggest having a look at Vultr for hosting. With HTTPS certs, Let’s Encrypt (certbot) via the command line is free and easy.

Going down the rabbit hole of how to host a few minor domains I need. Currently hosted with MediaTemple (now subsumed into GoDaddy and makes SLL certs hard/expensive) and Linode (nice service but requiring expert skills to set up servers and now subsumed into Akamai so…)

@PhillipAdams_1 I'd suggest trying Mastodon - you don't have to leave Twitter to do that! Mastodon is generally much more civilised (now that Musk has empowered the RWNJs), and as a large network of independent nodes it can never be taken over by a delusional billionaire.
