Product review: Mysoter® UV Plus222 I was asked by @_MYLUMENS to have a look at their Far UVC spotlight. Proven to reduce ALL known viruses & bacteria in the air & on surfaces Here are my views of the device, starting with a video. There are also special discount codes. 1/🧵

So @vivian_belenky and OSLUV developed a free and open tool to calculate how safe and effective 222nm GUV systems are. Check out the (beta) tool at illuminate.osluv.org . Define a room -> add, place, and aim the lamps -> calculate safety and efficacy to your hearts content🙂

Almost 2 years ago (Dec 27, 2021) - I sent @masknerd an email suggesting that we develop an open source condensation particle counter (CPC) to enable low cost and accessible air quality monitoring and quantitative fit testing for all. He said yes and we founded @OpenAeros.

@dmitrygr IFD shot not clear enough to see ground speed and altitude to calculate time dilation . pls rectify

This is my Time Machine. I needed to be in Dallas today. Driving is 3h+, commercial flight time is dwarfed by the clown-show that is the TSA. 57 minutes door to door.

@NukitToBeSure @2b_technologies @jljcolorado Another thing is sampling point - per UL 867/UL 2998 - sampling is done 2 inches from the front of the device -O3 will be very high (10-20ppb) in this location (where its most conc due to light and 1/r2 decay) . For this reason 222nm UV can't pass UL 2998. (3/N)

@NukitToBeSure @2b_technologies @jljcolorado USHIO B1 - 120mW UV in a 12x12x10 unmodified office raised O3 from < 1 ppb to ~2ppb. 3 X B1 raised it to 5.3 ppb. 4 x Nukits have combind ~100mW (full battery) decreasing linearly to ~60 mW of UV as battery discharges . Should see similar (or smaller) ~1 ppb increase (2/N)

Fancy (and very, very expensive) American-made super-accurate ozone meter I got from @2b_technologies on the recommendation of @jljcolorado. Going to get to work on the Far-UVC ozone issue and see what kind of ventilation we need to specify🤓 2btech.io/items/ambient-…

@NukitToBeSure @ghhughes @antiviral_mktng @masknerd @OpenAeros <3 Thank you for the love and explanation - even though sometimes we disagree about things, it means the world when others recognize the work for what it is. Hoping to drop HW + SW on git by the end of the month probably a CERN OSHW license. We are in DFM as you rightly said.

Aaron Collins and his @OpenAeros are working to reduce the cost of mask fit testing and aerosol science. They are close to a finalized design for a sub-micron particle counter that will be free to copy, and much cheaper to manufacture than current designs.

It’s been a long road but we are so excited to share our progress on the world’s first open source, low-cost, condensation particle counter! What is it and why should you care? @masknerd explains why this CPC is a BFD. youtu.be/OxQSAvvOpw4

@mpangch @OpenAeros @masknerd Since it is open source, it would be great if you could please release design files soon (in its present state) - the downsides I see: 1. You getting lots of questions, and 2. People expecting software support to include early revisions instead of just the final released version.

@SusanDavidsonM2 @Gee24218071 @OpenAeros @masknerd Inlet airflow is passed into warm chamber w/ a isopropanol wick - saturating it with IPA fluid then it goes into a chamber at 15C which causes fluid to condense on particles making them bigger :) Response time is v. fast - seconds.

@jeffgilchrist @masknerd @OpenAeros Yep - that's the plan! Current version is hand made & intended for scientific/industry research community to independently study / verify / develop OpenCPC. We are already 10x - 20x cheaper than our competitive benchmark. The next 5x-10x will need scale - we are hard at work :)

@mpangch @masknerd @OpenAeros Thank you for the update. Hopefully with scale and manufacturing design, the cost can get a lot lower since $2500 is not "low cost" in my mind, although I appreciate it is lower than what current new CPCs cost. I was hoping they could be acquired for neighbourhood support.
