Unrelated but slightly related; I used to attend a church that was less than 100m from a popular tavern. One night during youth service this pastor got us very worked up and we marched to the tavern to pray for it to close. We stood by the gates praying in tongues.
I realise now ukuthi we were very intolerant because the drunkards never came to the church to dance in front of the gate.
And they were actually better than us because while we were praying for the tavern to close down, some of the drunkards join us. Not sure they knew what were praying for though.

Which one is worse to live next to? A church or tavern?

Some mining companies are not for money but to boost your CV and experience… for money you need Two Rivers, Northam, Dwarsrivier, IvanPlats, Kumba, Seriti etc.
English

@MduduziSilabela @Flex_LSG @kaygeeminer logically, they should absorb their bursars together with candidates in the hosting community
English

@mpots_ @Flex_LSG @kaygeeminer When I was still doing my undergrad I was funded by a mining company and this is what I experienced too... It is a matter of somebody who knows somebody in most cases.
English

@Flex_LSG @MduduziSilabela @kaygeeminer Seems most mines you get in through someone not by just applying online. Worth a shot though
English

@MduduziSilabela @kaygeeminer They are always hiring those people, you just gotta check their website every so often

@IvynSambo @Jojino6 In mass production you will always have recalls, minor or major. Only difference is some are publicised more than others

The worst thing about growing up in poverty is that it kills your confidence, takes away your agency and forces heavy reliance on “confirmation bias”
You unknowingly remove yourself from topics and conversations that you have the right to partake in. Money becomes a taboo that is only discussed behind closed doors. You’re always preparing/anticipating failure in your attempts just so you can confirm that you’re not good enough. You treat your wins as dumb luck and partially bet on yourself just in case something wrong happens.
The moment I started identifying these patterns and worked against them, a lot of things changed for the better. My investment journey will always be an extension of me that I wish to replicate in every other aspect of my life. Boldness, confidence, betting on myself and living without fear. These are not just numbers to me, but proof that I am more than where I come from. My best asset is my mind and for as long as I do not restrict it with past trauma, failures or baseless fears, I am yet to unlock so much with it.
I am grateful that I made it this far and I pray for strength to reach a point when I’ll be able to offer much more to myself and loved ones 🤲🏾🍲🫱🏾🫲🏼

R2 Billion. In 26 Days.
Today, for the first time in our history, @EasyEquities has surpassed R2 billion in deposits in a single month.
And we did it in just 26 days.
With two days still to go in February.
I’m not writing this as a CEO announcement.
I’m writing this as someone who remembers the first year.
In our first year of Easy, we raised R100 million in client assets.
I remember celebrating that number.
It felt enormous.
It felt impossible.
It felt like proof that maybe… just maybe… this idea — that everyone deserves access to investing — might actually work.
This month alone, in less than four weeks, clients have deposited 20 times that amount.
What took us an entire year to achieve in 2014 now happens in a single day.
When I saw the dashboard tick past R2bn, I didn’t think about growth rates.
I didn’t think about projections.
I didn’t think about valuation.
I thought about the early days.
The doubt.
The funding stress.
The sceptics.
The nights wondering if we were naïve to believe South Africans would invest if only given the chance.
And I thought about trust.
Because that’s what R2 billion really is.
It’s not cash.
It’s not inflows.
It’s not a metric.
It’s millions of individual decisions —
people choosing to build rather than consume,
to own rather than rent,
to invest rather than simply hope.
There are tears in moments like this. Quiet ones.
Not because of the number —
but because of what it represents.
Belief compounds.
Trust compounds.
Opportunity compounds.
And when that compounding starts to accelerate, you realise something bigger is happening.
This isn’t just company growth.
It’s a movement.
One day, perhaps 100 years from now, someone will ask:
“How did South Africans become so wealthy?”
And the answer will be:
“Because @EasyEquities made it their mission and purpose to be so — a very long time ago.”
Today felt like one of those chapters.
Thank you to every client who trusted us.
Thank you to every team member who built through uncertainty.
Thank you to every partner who believed.
We’re only just getting started.
We’re still so early.
Charles

@SizweDhlomo I swear😂😂 There’s a big church in the East Rand… they hire junior pastors to write sermons for the senior pastor. Every week, the JPs submit sermons for the SP to choose from.
