A big reason the Big ten is doing so well in so many sports besides the money, is visibility.
The B1G TV footprint spreads over just about every major TV market and across the entire US. Recruits get to see the games, and family/friends can watch them.

Coaches get paid
Fans get nothing and care more about a program than any of the players

@SetonCbb Coaches have always been paid. Players should have always been paid and not doing so was a violation of federal law.
Fans get entertained but the players are the ones who give their blood, sweat, and tears.

The idea that it is directly funding the athletics dept so it can “compete” is absurd. Either it competes thru private donations or it loses.
