The border police officers who massacred the Bani Odeh family won’t be questioned, as the evidence allegedly shows they shot “out of fear for their lives.” Two parents and their two children were killed, and the two surviving children were beaten. Let’s look at the “evidence” 🧵

Again, this is untrue. Israel was a militarised state from the start. For the first 20 years of its existence, the few Palestinians allowed to remain lived under military rule, denied access to their former homes and villages. And if any of those who had been expelled tried to return, they were shot.

🇮🇱 Avraham Burg says Israel's growing military power shifted the country away from peace and toward force while still feeling threatened. More weapons but less safe. More power but less peace. At some point you have to ask if the strategy is working...

those damn Palestinians, constantly seizing lands illegally in the West Bank
liel leibovitz@liel

As so many people, including so many who ought to know much better, are falling for the "Very Violent Settlers" storyline, here's a very brief clarification on what's actually happening on the ground. Palestinians are constantly and violently provoking and attacking their Jewish neighbors: an 18-year-old young man named Yehuda Sherman was killed just this morning when a Palestinian driver deliberately ran him over. Palestinians are also constantly seizing lands illegally, and on the rare occasion that Israel's highly sympathetic courts bother enforcing the law and demanding that they leave, they ignore the orders and grab away. Meanwhile, a battery of "human rights organizations," paid for by the same deep-pocketed NGOs paying for all the progressive chaos worldwide, are spinning out reports accusing Israel of unspeakable crimes, often marking Palestinian terrorists eliminated while murdering Jewish civilians as innocent victims of settler violence. And thanks to a Biden-administration appointed official, these reports are then copy-pasted, word for word, and presented as official American policy. When Palestinians go on murderous sprees, no one registers a complaint. When PA police officers blatantly violate the Oslo Accords, it's all good. But when a Jews respond to constant attacks and provocations by rising up and defending themselves, everyone, including a large swaths of American Jews, hurry to condemn them as dangerous lunatics. This kind of retardation doesn't work anymore: Jews have every right to defend themselves from murderous Palestinian violence everywhere, but especially in their ancestral homeland of Judea and Samaria.

The documentary “No Other Land” is often billed as a film about settler violence (and there’s plenty of it), but most of it is about the violence of uniformed Israeli officers. Those who shot two children in the head still haven’t even been questioned about it over a week later

Violence against Palestinians in the West Bank is unacceptable. The Israeli Government needs to stop being complicit. The perpetrators of these attacks must be arrested and prosecuted. This violence undermines U.S. interests, fuels instability, and violates human rights. apnews.com/article/israel…

Every single adult living in an illegal settlement is knowingly violating international law and is complicit in the ethnic cleansing of Palestine. There are no “good, law-abiding” settlers. Choosing not to participate in a pogrom is clearing the lowest moral bar imaginable.
Yaakov Katz@yaakovkatz

I have serious problems with the term “settler violence.” It is a generalization that demonizes a community of 500,000 people - almost all of them are good, law-abiding citizens. But we cannot let that defense blind us. What has been happening in the West Bank - like the attacks by Jewish extremists in some 20 locations last night - is an abomination. These actions are anti-Jewish, they are the antithesis of what it means to be Israeli, and they must be stopped with the most aggressive steps law enforcement has at its disposal. Beyond the moral rot, this is a strategic liability. Israel is in a war against Iran and we have a rare moment to unite a global coalition from the US to Europe to the Gulf, but that support is undermined when these attacks occur. @netanyahu knows this and for that reason he went to the IDF Central Command on Friday to try and stop the violence in the middle of a war that needs to be his sole focus. What these attackers are doing is not just criminal; it is a threat to our national security. We cannot defeat our enemies abroad while a violent fringe undermines our legitimacy from within.

Fanon understood that colonial rot produces a pathological condition among settlers in which repression and aggression collapse into one another. Settler violence is therefore not merely strategic but ritualistic and excessive, serving both domination and as a kind of psychic release. Israeli society is deeply sociopathic, and the emotional numbness and ability to dehumanize children without hesitation is tied to their very existence.
Quds News Network@QudsNen

An Israeli academic, Orit Perlov, posted a tweet in Hebrew, later deleted, in which she argued that confronting Iran requires a harsh religious approach targeting Iranian children, citing biblical references to the killing of newborns. She claimed similar tactics were previously applied in Gaza, where over 14,000 children were killed according to UN statistics, and suggested applying the same model in Iran and Lebanon. She also stated that instead of targeting power stations, if top Iranian officials cannot be reached, their children should be killed.

I'm an American trauma surgeon. One year ago today I was volunteering at Nasser Medical Complex in Gaza when Israel fired a missile into the room of my 16-year-old patient, Ibrahim Barhoum. The missile killed him instantly. If it had hit the room 90 seconds later it would have killed me, too. Today the US and Israel are still blocking medical supplies from entering Gaza, and are repeating the assault on hospitals and healthcare workers across Lebanon. This is nothing but barbarism. It must be stopped.
