Constitution Defenders Forum (CDF) Convener and former Zimbabwe Finance Minister, Tendai Biti, has been arrested in Mutare today. Biti was arrested together with Fanuel chinowaita (Journalist), Morgan Ncube, and Nyasha Gerald (Laywer). Biti and the other three were holding meetings to discuss the Constitutional Amendment Bill 3 in Mutare Central constituency. It is still not clear what charges the police are pressing against the quartet. Bro, a Presidential term in Zimbabwe is limited to five years and two terms. If you are changing it from five years to seven years, that is a change of a term limit. This is why you are having to make an entire law to extend it to seven years from five years because it is limited to five. Any change to term limit requires a referendum. We can’t be patriots by trying to trample the constitution.
