@evleaks@evleaks can you give us some examples of the apps you have created? And what exactly did it take? Did you use the Codex app or just worked directly in ChatGPT?
So I decided to pull the trigger and spend the $20/month on ChatGPT Plus - no small sum for me ATM. But the sophistication with which the platform can now build small, highly-tailored, fully-formed apps for personal use, is just stupefying.
The couple hours I spent with it, planning and iterating a couple test apps, would have cost me thousands of dollars with a human dev -- completely out of reach.
So in my mind, it's less that this technology is going to replace human labor -- which, let's be fair, it surely will to some degree -- than the fact that it's endowing us with capabilities that we never would have been privy to in its absence.
Going through an old memory box at my mom’s house this week, I found this photo from August 1980 , my first-ever victory as a 15 year old boy with big dreams , on the roads of my hometown, Izegem.
It doesn’t feel like yesterday, but it doesn’t feel like 45 years ago either.
No plans back then. No expectations. Just a bike, a race, and the feeling that something had begun.
Some beginnings don’t fade, they simply wait to be remembered.
BREAKING: Blackrock, $BLK, CEO Larry Fink has said: We believe we're just at beginning of tokenization of all assets, from real estate to equity to bonds
@mrmoneymustache What to do once retired. Where to pull money from? Keep reinvesting or no? If access to Roth is possible, start there or pull from the taxable account? Keep everything in stocks or move 20-40% to bonds?
So I've been experimenting with some 1:1 coaching, mostly from people who are close to FIRE but looking for a final checkup.
Here are some of the things some people miss consistently:
1) If you're going to go to all the trouble of owning rental houses, the damned things should at least outperform the stock market. So make sure your cap rate is better than ~8% after all expenses.
But this takes some skill, so I keep sending people to @CoachChadCarson's excellent all-in-one book on the subject, "The Small and Mighty Real Estate Investor"
2) If you're going to invest in stocks, you should understand how to do it right - which in my opinion means long-term accumulation of index funds and NOT trying to time the market by panic-selling or holding out for future crashes.
This takes a lot less skill but it still takes some understanding. For this, I keep directing people to read The Simple Path to Wealth by @JLCollinsNH - it really is simple!
3) The rest of the challenges usually resolve around spending, life optimization and confidence. For these, the good ol' MMM Boot Camp email series is still a good start. Anyone can join that for free from the front page of my website and plenty are already doing that.
Ideally I can make my coaching job obsolete by writing better blog posts so more people can figure this stuff out on their own. But for now I will keep having fun and learning more as I meet new people, one at a time.
If you've read this far (thank you!) - what is YOUR biggest question you'd ask a FIRE coach?
@bobkeroll Hey Bob, saw you riding your rim brake bike. What brand is it? I need to replace mine as it broke over the weekend. Always fun to hear your commentary!
@Vaughters Pues gracias pero sabes que no puedo estar contento contigo
Te conozco desde que llegaste a España con Santa Clara
De nuevo gracias por ese reconocimiento
For those of you into old skool racing….. we showed the team a video of Jalabert’s 1995 victory in Mende this AM. And said: This is what we want to do.
@foundmyfitness Prticipants followed a low-carbohydrate, ketogenic diet (under 20g carbs/day).
No exercise program was prescribed or encouraged.
So the observed effects in the study can be attributed primarily (or entirely) to dietary changes, not to changes in physical activities
Exercise and diet beat drugs for better glucose control.
A new 20-year follow-up from the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) revealed that a healthy lifestyle significantly outperformed the diabetes drug metformin.
Participants who followed an intensive diet and exercise plan saw a 24% lower risk of developing diabetes, compared to just a 17% reduction in those taking metformin. They also stayed diabetes-free longer - 3.5 years versus 2.5 years for metformin users.
What's especially powerful? The lifestyle intervention lasted only 3 years, nearly two decades ago, yet its protective effects continue today.
Good habits create lasting change that drugs alone can't match.
@fairlife I'm a bit obsessed with your milk lately.
I can't believe how little effect it has on my blood sugar. Something I have to be very careful about as a T1 diabetic. The label says 6g carb/serving, but It seems like it has much less impact than 6g on my blood glucose. Such a great source of low-carb protein!
This got me thinking about the biochemistry behind your product, and I wanted to share my thoughts to see if it aligns with your understanding.
As I understand it:
• Your ultrafiltration process removes lactose, the primary sugar in milk.
• However, in milk, some lactose is naturally broken down into its components, glucose and galactose.
• Glucose raises blood sugar, galactose has very minimal impact on blood sugar.
• During filtration, lactose is removed, but glucose and galactose, being smaller molecules, escape the filter and remain.
Given that the sugar in your milk likely consists of equal parts glucose and galactose (as lactose breaks down into these two components), only about half of the listed 6g of carbohydrates would immediately affect blood sugar. Galactose has a much lower and delayed glycemic impact compared to glucose.
In essence, this would mean your milk has approximately 3g of “Net Carbs” per serving, which directly influences blood glucose. Many keto / low-carb products on the market, like "Quest Bars" calculate and advertise their net carb content on labels. If my thinking is correct, I believe this could be a compelling point for marketing your product to the low-carb and diabetes communities!
Either way, I'm going to keep chugging this stuff! @ItIsMikeFitz, thanks for getting me hooked on Fairlife!

@unusual_whales $UNN vs. $UNH: You mentioned "$UNN 320 put buyers," but there seems to be a typo or confusion. The stock symbol for UnitedHealth Group is $UNH, not $UNN. There’s no widely recognized stock with the ticker $UNN related to this news. So, it’s likely you meant $UNH put options.
This is egregious.
Today, it was announced that United Healthcare Group, $UNH, secretly paid nursing homes to reduce hospital transfers.
The stock dropped 5%.
But literally before the news, there were $UNN 320 put buyers expiring 05/23/2025.
They made millions, up 200% in an hour.
@Uribecycling Muy mala caida. Imaginate si no se hubiese caido, hubiese quedado tal vez en los primeros 5 del GC. Yo espero que no se haya estropeado demasiado y continue avanzando como ha hecho hasta ahora.
Rest in Peace my beautiful Max. Your company, friendship and unconditional loyalty have helped me through some difficult and challenging times. I will remember you and love 💔 you forever. 😢
