@AlexH_Johnson @TrungTPhan I felt like a customer service response I got from Astrid and Miyu felt like it was ai generated. As in it came within a minute but was actually quite useful and well written so my assumption is AGI

Who would be the best person to interview about the impact of generative AI on customer service, especially within a financial services context? My dream guest is someone at Klarna, but I'm trying to keep my expectations in check :)

Something you didn’t know about me: I import tonnes of avocados 🥑 to the UK from Africa with @TimArmoo and some other friends. All to fuel the millennial breakfast… Great profile piece on Tim here… he’ll go on to do great things. fortune.com/europe/2024/07…

Jerry Seinfeld is still working hard at 70 because he believes “pursuing mastery” and having a “good skill” is the way to “fulfil your life”. This philosophy was inspired by an Esquire magazine issue from the 1980s. I found the mag and took notes here: readtrung.com/p/jerry-seinfe…

Update on Solo Writers: Launched a little more than 3 months ago Created a Slack community with other solo writers and have been very intentional about who gets let in We have 101 members and some glowing testimonials A few writers have built their own solo writing businesses from $0 to $5k+ a month because of the group Many others making connections and working on projects together It's not a business yet, in the sense that I'm not offering a product or service yet. I wanted to create the group first, make it useful, and then figure out a product Instead, I've been focusing on making it very valuable for our initial group, which will inform me about what future members would be willing to pay for Now is the time to start thinking about a product/service over the next couple months

@lifeof_scoop I think this change of goal is actually so smart, and will be much more lucrative and low stress than trying to start 100 different local newsletters. Definitely keen to learn

The Local Newsletter Guy | Ryan Sneddon🍦
Local newsletters are getting a lot of hype right now. And rightfully so I started one 3.5 years ago that's now a six-figure business and employs 9 people (some part-time) When I started, I wanted to start 100 of them all around the country. But over Christmas break (my favorite time to reflect), my goals changed Now I want to help 1,000 other people start local newsletters and change their lives and cities forever So I'm relaunching the Life of Scoop newsletter to peel back the layers on launching, growing, and monetizing a local newsletter. I'm going to send a story, lesson, or tactic every Thursday – starting this week. But there's a catch. I only want to teach people who really want to learn. So I'm going to limit the number of subscribers to 7,777 And if you don't open at least 2 each month, I'll scrub you without warning So if you really want to learn, come join the Life of Scoop newsletter. I'd love to have you. I'll reply with the link.

@mrjameshickson Agreed. The problem is to avoid "man with a hammer syndrome" which sees every problem as a nail. My whole career is switching between a performance hat and a creative hat. You want both -- and it will become more common over the next 10 years.

Best Ads Ever: Aeromexico Airlines Problem - Aeromexico airline wanted to convince more Americans to travel to Mexico. Idea - DNA test discounts. The more Mexican you are, the greater the discount. Impact - 17,778% increase in Google Search for Aeromexico.

@The_AdProfessor Just so clever. Don't sell. Think of a big idea that gets people talking/thinking and the rest takes care of itself. I do think this is what creative agencies do better than, say, performance agencies.

Some more info on this ad: 1. Was designed by Ogilvy 2. 1.6 billion organic impressions 3. This ad alone increased "vacation to Mexico" on Google Search by 322% across the whole travel market. No public stats on revenue impact (covid blurs a lot of airline numbers)

@gregisenberg Makes total sense. But do you also not think there's still value in the one pager alongside to help lay out your thinking on GTM, upsides, downsides etc.?

I changed how I launch startups and launching successful startups got 10x easier Old approach: When inspiration struck, I'd immediately dive into crafting a meticulously detailed 1-page spec doc. Many of those spec docs? Never went anywhere. My Notion is full of dusty 1 pagers (lol) waiting for some elusive moment to shine. New approach: Go straight from startup idea to landing page. - Immediate feedback from the community? Check. - Same time commitment as a doc? Surprisingly, yes. - Attracts the thinkers, the early adopters, and those keen collaborators. Big time. - I can shift the brand's message and value proposition as insights flow in. Fluidity like water. The truth is, landing pages allow me to gauge resonance right from the get-go. Are we striking a chord, or just playing the wrong tune? Example: I've been tweeting about Multipreneurship. People who are tired of the solopreneurship game and want to build multiple ventures aka holding companies But I didn’t know if there was a product people would be into. So, in 24h I built a landing page for a community for multipreneurs. Hundreds of high quality people not only told me they’d be interested, but told me the exact product they wanted. Sidenote: I recommend following @multipreneurguy if this stuff interests you Here's my main point: A spec doc could never give you that level of clarity. It’s a compass when it’s pitch black and you’re in a strange place The landing page… It’s more like Google Maps. You’ll have a pretty good idea if you’re close or far from home. Small mindset change, major difference.

If I was working at Twitter, here's what I'd do: Visualize the view count. • If you reach 100 people, it's a lecture hall. • If you reach 1,000 people, it's a theatre. • If you reach 10,000 people, it's over 50% of Madison Square Gardens. • If you reach 100,000 people, it's nearly Michigan Stadium (America's biggest stadium) • If you reach 1,000,000 people, it's almost 3x the population of a country like Iceland. Humans have a hard time visualizing numbers on a screen. If Twitter did this, it would gamify the app so much more. I know creators who get disappointed by 10K views -- but if they were to speak in front of 50% of Madison Square Gardens, they would have an anxiety attack.
