On the morning of Eid al-Fitr in the Al-Bureij camp in central Gaza, WCK teams and our local partners distributed special Eid cookies to families. For people who have been living under unimaginable circumstances, these cookies are more than a sweet treat—they’re joy, a reminder of home, and a chance to celebrate despite the hardship around them. As families mark the end of Ramadan, our teams are standing with them to share food and hope. #ChefsForGaza

Ramadan is a holy month centered on reflection, remembrance, and reading, particularly of the Qur’an honored by Muslims around the world. As Muslims in NYC prepare to celebrate Chaand Raat tonight and Eid al-Fitr, explore this lavishly illuminated double page in a blue and gold palette found at the beginning of the opening sūras (chapters) of the Qur’an, surrounds the main text in Arabic, with an interlinear translation in Farsi in red ink, reflecting the ways the text circulated and has been understood across communities and languages. 📕 Sūrat al-Fātiḥah and beginning of Sūrat al-Baqarah in a 19th century Qur’an manuscript, probably copied in Iran.

In #Ramadan, lanterns light the nights. Lanterns mark the rhythm of Ramadan evenings, when communities gather for iftar, head to night prayers, and search the final nights for Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Power—one of the most sacred nights in the Islamic calendar. In Gaza, lanterns are not easy to find. So Hajjah Um Hani, who receives hot meals from WCK, made her own. Using empty soda cans and pieces of old cardboard, she carefully cut and shaped lanterns by hand. Not for herself, but for the children around her. “I wanted to make kids happy and make them feel the Ramadan atmosphere,” she said. In homes across Gaza, small acts like this carry enormous meaning. Lanterns are part of the feeling of Ramadan—the warmth of nights together, the joy of children, and the quiet belief that these sacred nights still belong to the community. In these difficult moments, people hold on to the light of Ramadan, even when it comes from lanterns made of cardboard. #ChefsForGaza

When Aisha received a #Ramadan food kit from WCK, she immediately began planning the meals she would make. Most of the items inside are difficult to find on her own, making the delivery especially meaningful for her family. She is most excited to make vegetable soup, a dish commonly eaten for iftar, along with qatayef and basbousa, traditional Ramadan sweets. #ChefsForGaza

Teams at WCK kitchens across Gaza are working hard every day to prepare hundreds of thousands of hot meals daily. These meals are a lifeline for Palestinian families, especially during #Ramadan when nourishing food is vital to sustain people who are fasting throughout the day. On the menu this week: spiced rice and chicken! #ChefsForGaza

In northern Gaza, the Palestinian Medical Relief Society is providing spaces at their field clinics for kids to just be kids and have fun. WCK teams are working alongside the medical staff to provide support, distributing food kits to children and their families to ensure they also have access to nourishing food. #ChefsForGaza

🌙✨ At Hands Up Project – Cairo Space, we celebrated our Ramadan Poetry Competition with poems and artwork created by our students. Nine participants were honored during iftar — a beautiful evening celebrating creativity, expression, and the spirit of Ramadan. 💛📜🎨

✨ Here are some lovely moments from our recent link-up with Joud and Jana in Egypt, kindly organised by Safa. Students from Class 3A of Scuola Media Patrizi in Recanati connected with the girls — they were the same age, which made the exchange even more special.

We’re told there’s not enough money for health care, affordable housing or education. But somehow there are billions for an illegal & unconstitutional war with Iran. We need a government that works for all of us — not the military-industrial complex, not Israel, not super PACs.

The world, Europe, and Spain have faced this critical moment before. In 2003, a few irresponsible leaders dragged us into an illegal war in the Middle East that brought nothing but insecurity and pain. Our response then must be our response now: NO to violations of international law. NO to the illusion that we can solve the world’s problems with bombs. NO to repeating the mistakes of the past. NO TO WAR. lamoncloa.gob.es/presidente/int…

This Trump–Netanyahu war is unconstitutional and violates international law. It endangers the lives of U.S. troops and people across the region. We’ve lived through the lies of Vietnam and Iraq. No more endless wars. Congress must pass a War Powers Resolution immediately.

#KPK #Menkeu #Purbaya #Tiktok #Kemenkeu
