Yesterday I played in my first ever real MTG tournament, and split the Top 4 of a 43 player Pauper 1K @theupkeepgames with (a lightly tweaked version of) @IslandsInFront's 🔵 ⚫ Tempo Faeries. Freaking amazing. Is this something that is finally worthy of tagging @fireshoes for?

You’re overlooking the huge reality that 1. Half of the population is women, plus men with zero mechanical aptitude 2. There’s a lot of jobs that even if the client can do it, they don’t want to spend their time potentially fucking it up when they could just pay someone and not have to worry about it 3. A lot of people are stupid

Everyone keeps saying “go into the trades.” I get it — but here’s my real experience: Called a local company to fix an icemaker on a 2007 fridge that still runs great. Tech shows up. Takes a picture. Can’t fix it. Charges $99 just for showing up. Then quotes me $1,300 to replace the icemaker. So I do what everyone can do now: I ChatGPT the model number. In 2 seconds: • Exact replacement part • Direct phone number • Cost: $300 Installation? 2 screws. 10 minutes. I’ll do it myself. Same thing happened with my pool heater: Repair guy quoted $2,000. I bought the part directly and fixed it myself for under $200. The problem isn’t the trades. It’s that information asymmetry is gone — and some businesses haven’t realized it yet.

I'm on a mix of Boulders and BCW Prisms and I'm torn. I prefer side loading boxes, but I think I ultimately like the Boulders better.

@MileHighAva @jmhorp I used to bartend at a place where a lot of my regulars were tradesmen. These dudes mostly made really good money. But they all had the same goal. Work their asses to the bone so they could put their kids through college so they wouldn't have to go into the trades.

@jmhorp Almost all of my family are blue collar workers. None of them have enjoyed the physical nature of the work past a certain age. The trades are great as long as you try to get something like a college degree that allows you to move into management.

This game is going to bankrupt Rockstar. It has to sell roughly 13 million copies (at $80/each) just to break even. The rising cost in computer hardware has shrunk the potential market of those who even have the necessary specs to play it, and the writing is probably garbage.

It's funny..."Independents" in America decide elections. There's damn near as many of them as there are Republicans. Yet no one is apparently willing to believe they actually exist. The number of times I am told I'm a Democrat (with Dem presidents you can reverse this) is crazy.
