Not a fan of demonising mental illness even when it has destructive consequences but it’s funny how whenever someone describes being the target of a BPD episode there’s always someone like “how dare you criticise this behaviour, don’t you know it’s due to trauma”

I once dated a woman with BPD who threw a prosecco bottle at my head (I dodged that shit) and told me to get out, so naturally I prepared to vacate the premises but before I could she grabbed a knife and threatened to plunge it into her heart if I left. God I miss her.

In 1972, when convicted armed robber Stanley Enekwe faced public execution by firing squad in East Central State, his father was present for his final moments.
"At other public executions, the families of the convicted men have usually kept away, ashamed that their own sons have received the condemnation of society.
"But Stanley's father has come to do what he believes to be his duty. He speaks his last words of comfort to his son, and reaches forward to wipe the sweat of fear from his son's face."

No way they can hang is a high bar, but Argentina, England, France and Morocco would definitely make them sweat like mad. They've been playing fantastically but their opponents haven't been the strongest teams so it's hard to tell how good they really are.

Serious question for knowledgeable soccer fans. Is there any country you have seen play so far in the World Cup that you think no way the US team could hang with?
