🇹🇷🇷🇺🇺🇸 Turkey is asking Russia for permission to get rid of the very weapon that got it kicked out of the F-35 program. Ankara wants to ship its Russian-made S-400 air defense systems off to a third country, hoping that finally clears the way to buy America's stealth fighter. Moscow is calling the request "extremely sensitive" and hasn't said yes. The whole thing is a little absurd. Turkey bought the S-400 in 2019, got booted from the F-35 program and slapped with sanctions, and has barely touched it since. Much of it is reportedly still sitting in shipping containers. Now the politics have flipped. At this week's NATO summit in Ankara, Trump said he'll drop the sanctions and is leaning toward greenlighting the jets, calling Erdogan loyal and a friend. The holdup is Congress and Israel. Bipartisan lawmakers want the sale blocked while Turkey keeps the S-400, and Netanyahu is lobbying hard against it to protect Israel's air edge. DEVELOPING: Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is being met with overwhelmingly positive reviews. Early critic responses have noted that Matt Damon & Robert Pattinson are excellent and Nolan’s use of IMAX cameras comes through in a resounding way. I’m seeing the film next Thursday & I truly can’t wait. I hope these early reviews are accurate.
