Google maps need to retake street view images now while all the flags are on lampposts so future home buyers will know where to avoid like the fucking plague.

@Natures_Voice What are the birds I’m seeing now (in Dec) perching high up in big trees, lots altogether squawking loudly? I don’t remember this from last year!

The problem with pigs is that their only contribution is their meat. Chickens give eggs and sheep give milk and wool. The genetic engineers should do the pigs a favour and give them wool, too. Then they'd have a purpose other than mere meat.

Too many pupils are disengaged after moving from primary to secondary school, leaving them without the skills they need for work and life. Our new Year 8 reading test will help teachers to spot struggling readers early and provide pupils with the support they need to achieve and thrive.

@Anthony_Bonato Perhaps you should improve your selection process so students who don’t have prerequisite knowledge can’t get into the course? Or, is it not prerequisite knowledge, in which case you should teach it.

I've taught math in universities for decades. If students coming out of high school knew these four pages, I think they would do well in first-year math courses

@UKMathsTrust Next year please can you switch the dates of the SMC and the MCG/MOG? We haven’t got much of a handle on who’s really good in our new y12s yet so the SMC data would be nice to have when selecting who does the MOG.

Frequently, when I wake early and tiptoe around the house so I don't wake my wife, I am overcome by the thought that I might have died during the night. Going back into the bedroom, I am afraid to look at the bed in case I see myself lying next to her.

It should be socially acceptable to wear pyjamas in public places. They are light and airy for the wearer, and usually cheerfully delightful for the people around them.

Penniless and homeless, Raynor and Moth Winn found fame with The Salt Path: the story of their 630-mile walk to salvation. It became a global bestseller and was adapted into a major film. But we can reveal it wasn’t the whole truth. @chloehadj Read: bit.ly/3GtJXsy

I wouldn't ever want to be Chancellor for all the money in the world. Incredibly tough job. Impossible ask. Especially over the last decade. How do you try to piece together the mis-shapen, independent jigsaw pieces of consumer issues, business, the economy, bond markets, stock markets, job markets, world economies, tariffs, and more. People often lambast Chancellors as 'unqualified' but no one is qualified to do such a broad job. Ultimately it is a political role for someone with hopefully some understanding of wider economic, financial and consumer issues. We have to give some respect to those who try, even if we disagree with their decisions. As no one will ever get it all right.

A level and GCSE results will be out in around 7/8 weeks and this year, it’s time both @JCQcic and the exam boards got their results statistics reporting sorted out, because there’s no excuse for the state they’re in and often the lack of information they provide 1/6

@Shr_Nottingham @theAliceRoberts What I find confusing is the “per hour” rate. Are doctors paid by the hour, or do they have a salary? Is the salary itself reasonable but the time demands are not? If they did 35/40 hours a week for the same salary would that be fair?

Take a moment to reflect on the fact that newly qualified doctors are asking for £22 ph After rigorous selection, years of graft and £100k of debt they currently earn less than a receptionist? And I don’t want to hear any “jam tomorrow” nonsense Residents have my full support
Luke Mordecai tweet media
Wes Streeting@wesstreeting

By anyone’s reckoning, a 29.8% pay rise is a result that resident doctors can be proud of. I know there’s more to do, but strikes should always be a last resort. Instead, let’s work together to deliver the change the NHS needs.
