One day, we will be out there, among the stars

Sky full of stars. Following a successful lunar flyby, the Artemis II astronauts captured this breathtaking photo of our galaxy, the Milky Way, on April 7, 2026.

When I was building spacecraft, one of our engineers would stand behind us while we were laying wire harnesses and read from the Bible.
We would sometimes pray before a large operation. He brought his Bible into the cleanroom and privately prayed over a vehicle before we sent it into test.
I'm pretty sure he prayed over the Orion that is being flown on Artemis II as well. The Orion team was just as religious, if not more religious, than we were.
We are "the science" and we're glad Astronaut Glover is as faithful as us.

Looks like Victor Glover pissed off even more Athei- Wait, why is r/Christianity upset?

All I feel is gratitude for this experience.

Dreamt I was in lunar orbit last night. Been in that post-vivid-dream-that-wasn't-real funk all morning.

This is what Earthset and Earthrise will look like from the POV of Artemis II crew. As it sets it does so against the illuminated side of the moon, when it rises again it's agains the dark side.
The rise is another opportunity for an 'Earth illuminated by moonlight' photo - but much harder to get.

Five years ago I went to space on @inspiration4x - the 1st all civilian mission to orbit earth - and now we have humans headed to the moon with #NASA #ArtemisII.
Is anyone else feeling like the future is now?!?! 🌎🚀🌗🖖🏾

Sweet dreams, @NASAArtemis II crew.
One last look at the Moon before flight day six and your epic lunar flyby, taking you farther into space than humans have EVER traveled.

Because NASA is a serious government agency, not a company trying to hype it's IPO?
NASA admins would be excoriated by congress if they spent as much as SpaceX does on this.

Can someone explain why the Artemis launch video feeds didn’t look as good as this?

@JonEast87 Blue Origin is winning this race hands down.

@Tazerface16 @elonmusk is sulking in the corner because he is not involved with Artemis II which used SLS and Orion which can do what his rocket can't, fly a real mission.

These two images were taken by @astro_reid only minutes apart. The stark difference is the result of camera settings. In the first, a longer shutter speed let in much more light from Earth, while the shorter shutter speed in the second emphasizes our planet's nighttime glow.
