Your ACCESS data is school data- it’s a reflection of how the entire school supports language development. It is NOT merely a reflection of students’ time with their EL Teacher. Language instruction is happening everywhere, with everyone, all day long.

Fellow teachers; why is this year so exhausting so far? I'm falling asleep at 9pm then struggling to get out of bed. Not tired in the day but totally wiped in evening. Not enjoying teaching at all so far this year. Anyone else feel this way? Totally lost my teaching mojo

Drinking coffee as a beverage is said to have originated in Yemen in the 15th century in Sufi Shrines. It was there that coffee berries were first roasted & brewed in a way similar to how the drink is prepared today For #InternationalCoffeeDay a thread on coffee & Muslim culture

Paul Gorski | Equity Literacy Institute
People often say equity is equal outcomes. But equal test scores or equal representation in advanced classes in a school w/ racist policies/curricula isn't equity. If students experience racism & achieve equal outcomes, it's racism, not equity.

Leaders: If our impulse when confronted w/ the need for antiracist change is to think, "We're not ready for that," we must recognize that we're demonstrating why the change is needed. The fact that we're not ready is a sign of our leadership failures and how badly we need it.

How many thousands of children are sent to the principal's office, suspended, or referred to special education because their cultural values are not congruent with their teacher or school's cultural values?

I don't care what anyone says: current ELA curriculum is not diverse enough. It's just not. There are still TOO MANY schools that don't feature all of us. That means students are still not well-read and we're still engaging in exclusive practices. Stop it & #DisruptTexts
