Very sad to hear that Tim Radford, former Science Editor of the Guardian, has died. A wonderful writer, kind colleague and good man. His “manifesto for a simple scribe” remains as sound a guide to writing today as it ever was. theguardian.com/science/blog/2…

Stress is everywhere — work pressure, school deadlines, problems at home, traffic on the roads, heartbreaking crises reported on the daily news or our own personal struggles. We all experience stress in some form, which affects both our mind and body. But how we respond to stress can make a crucial difference to our well-being. The first step to managing stress is learning to recognize its signs, these differ but may include: headaches, neck and shoulder pain, upset stomach, chest tightness, muscle tension, and a lack of appetite. Personally, I find that taking a walk with my children/grandchildren helps the most. Colleagues have shared other effective techniques: • Practicing breathing exercises • Sticking to a daily routine • Getting enough sleep • Reducing screen time • Eating healthy meals • Talking with a trusted person or seeking professional support, especially if you are having difficulties coping • Engaging in exercise you enjoy What works for you may vary, but tuning into the signals of stress is essential for staying healthy. It’s okay to take a break. It’s okay to prioritise your health. It’s okay to seek help. A positive mindset can make all the difference.

Just had a constructive conversation with Prime Minister Michel Barnier @MichelBarnier of France, where we emphasized the importance of mental health. It's crucial to prioritize mental well-being alongside physical health. I am truly impressed by his commitment and passion for this vital issue. #MentalHealthMatters

I am sorry to see that despite years of talk, gender inequality is on full display at the #UNGA General Debate. Less than 10% of speakers this week are women. This is unacceptable – especially when we know gender equality delivers for peace, climate action and much more.
