@Ken_Rosenthal Interesting that not once in the article did you mention fans. Do you have any idea how disheartening it is to know your team can’t win? To have LA have multiple players making what your whole team makes? Do you wonder why fans would buy tickets without hope? Half of MLB has none

@Cardinals_Live As someone who has lived in both STL and metro Detroit, they really aren’t that different. Longer winters in the D, but less humidity.

Some KEY notes taken away from conversations between #stlcards and Third Baseman Nolan Arenado. The player has in fact raised the list of teams - and changed the criteria a bit - Still wants to go to a contender - does not need to be a powerhouse - just wants a team with the mindset to compete - goal to make the playoffs - "trying" W's and L's not the only deciding factor - may not even be the most important - a huge factor is the city - location - married and with a young child - just wants a safe desirable place to relocate- even temporary. A good example of this is Detroit - I've touched on this a few times - a team who's obviously a contender- who has had interest in Arenado - told he's not inclined to accept a deal there - does not view Detroit as a place to relocate the family - unsure of that view could be changed - it's early - but this is the example Last year, he wanted things to play out before accepting a deal - it's why he veto'd the Astros deal so early - he wanted to see what teams would do so he'd know he'd have a good shot at competing. - he's expressed a different stance this year - preferring the quicker is better route - wants to get settled in - take care of the family and focus on the season - wants to perform for new city - has a lot to prove to himself. Training hard A team like LAA even tho not a huge competitor on paper - would be considered under his new approach - Those are the guidelines used and the list of teams expanded pretty naturally - The last thing I was told that all of it actually included a few teams that were interested in the past - but Nolan said no - and those teams have renewed their interest- Based on initially conversations - I've been told the Cardinals feel more optimistic then last season Nolan will be moved. Side note - The attention the Cardinals have been getting for their players - from Gray to Gorman to Donovan to even Burleson and Walker - have been OVERWHELMING - A close friend who covers the Cardinals told me "they're the bell of the ball early on"
