Charles Demmings (Stephen F. Austin) is the "Combine King" and the clear-cut top FCS prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft. If you're looking for an under-the-radar gem who could realistically be the steal of the draft, Demmings is the name you need to know before things kick off tomorrow. 2026 Draft Stock & Projections Projection: Late Day 2 to Early Day 3 (Rounds 3–5). The "Combine King": Demmings completely blew up the NFL Combine in February. He recorded a 9.97 Relative Athletic Score (RAS), making him one of the most athletic cornerbacks in the history of the event. Vertical Jump: 42 inches (Top 2 among all CBs). Broad Jump: 11'0" (Top 2). 40-Yard Dash: 4.41 seconds. Top Suitors: The Seattle Seahawks and Atlanta Falcons have shown heavy interest. Seattle, in particular, views him as a perfect fit for their "Dark Side" defense due to his length and zone versatility. The "Ball Hawk" Production (SFA) Despite playing at the FCS level, his production was undeniable. He leaves Stephen F. Austin as the program's all-time leader in passes defended. 2025 Senior Season: He finished with 4 interceptions and 5 pass breakups. Lockdown Metric: Quarterbacks had a 39.8 passer rating when targeting him in 2025—the 4th-lowest mark among all 250+ draft-eligible cornerbacks. The "Closer": He was a key reason for SFA's 11-3 record and deep playoff run, proving he could lead a defense at a high level. Scouting Report The Good: Freakish Recovery Speed: Because of his elite athleticism, he can afford to take risks on routes because he has the "jet engines" to close the gap if he gets beat initially. Size & Length: At 6'1" and 193 lbs, he has the prototypical frame that NFL GMs look for in a boundary corner. Ball Skills: He doesn't just disrupt passes; he catches them. His background as a late-bloomer (he didn't play football until his senior year of high school) suggests he still has a massive developmental ceiling. The Bad: Competition Level: The biggest question mark will always be the FCS jump. Scouts want to see if his 39.8 passer rating allowed holds up when he's facing CeeDee Lamb or A.J. Brown instead of Southland Conference receivers. Short-Area Agility: While his vertical and straight-line speed are elite, he had a slightly disappointing 7.2-second three-cone time, which raises questions about his "twitch" in tight man-to-man spaces. #NFLDraft #NFLDraft2026 #NFLProspects #FutureStars #DraftAnalysis #Cornerback
