@GPGinthisho @ThienemanSZN Comparing the 04 and 05 White Sox. The 2005 White Sox won it all with balanced, high-WAR contribution. Pitching, defense, and timely hitting despite no one sniffing a .960 OPS, while the 2004 team had bigger individual bats but less complete impact across the roster.
English

@msiwiec @ThienemanSZN An ops of 960 and being an fielding average first baseman absolutely does help you win 😭😭
English

Murakami is the lowest WAR player of the 4
ColsonIsKing@ColsIsKing
When we having Colson, Hoerner, Murakami best player in Chicago talks and a PCA truther tries to speak
English

@GPGinthisho @ThienemanSZN A .960 OPS absolutely helps, but WAR is capturing everything else too, and a 1B with average defense has a much smaller overall impact than a well-rounded player at a premium position. You can rack up OPS and still not move the needle as much on total team wins
English

@keyman_2112 @kjay2205 @BBGreatMoments Same with Jon Lester. A CY young in 2016 would have helped though.
English

@msiwiec @kjay2205 @BBGreatMoments And that's probably what will get him in during a very weak year.
English

@GPGinthisho @ThienemanSZN That’s completely fair. And most people would agree with you. But hitting home runs doesn’t always equal wins.
English

@ThienemanSZN I prefer when a guy hits fucking nukes instead of playing good outfield but hey I guess that’s just me!
English

@ThienemanSZN @GPGinthisho Better all around player does not always equal most exciting player.
English

@GPGinthisho “When you just ignore half the game he’s so much better”
English

That is Cubs fans in a nutshell. It's hysterical. Every year. Every ballpark.
I think they're just a very excited bunch or something

In addition to its stench, Wrigley Field must have the worst sight lines in baseball, because the crowd seems to think every ball the home team hits in the air is going to be a home run
English

@kjay2205 @keyman_2112 @BBGreatMoments There are different avenues to the HOF. Leading 3 title teams and a MVP is certainly one of them.
English

@keyman_2112 @BBGreatMoments I tend to agree. He was a key piece of 3 World Series championships and had a very solid career. Not spectacular personal stats, but quiet and humble. Exactly what the voters like
English

@ctrent The wind kills a lot of balls that would be home runs elsewhere
English

@Brett_A_Taylor Sox fans would generally rather talk about the Cubs than their own team. And they have a weird obsession with comparing every decent player to PCA and cherry picking stats to show their player is better.
English

Counting hits isn't exactly the best way to measure player value, but I'll just take this at its face value since it was offered.
PCA has 30 hits this year, which is more than every White Sox player except Chase Meidroth. And that's with PCA performing poorly at the plate.
whitesoxdave@barstoolWSD
PCA hasn't had many of hits this year (or since ASB of 2025, really) so I understand the excitement here. Rare feat for PCA
English

@cody__cubs Here’s a great example of a Cubs account giving deserved credit to a white Sox player. @ChiSoxFanMike
English

Both are fun. Both rake. Would be exciting to see
Jeremy@Smallzz3214
@cody__cubs I sure hope you're right about Chicago having two rookies of the year
English

@ThienemanSZN PCA is a great player and does a lot to win games. Hes also a great dude. Colson and Murakami are also great players. Should be a fun series in a few weeks.
English

@CarlsBeef Is Ben Brown THE setup guy? Could be the alternate closer if Palencia isn’t available?
English

You mean other than playing in the Little League World Series?
DrPutt4Doh@putt4_doh
@RonDeSantis Sounds like a guy who never played baseball as a kid. Or chased lifeguards like Wendy Peffercorn
