Just had to remind Opus 4.6 that env variables need to be read. Three separate times. And also remind it that it needs a package.json to have packages available. I don't know what they did but this is borderline unusable.

Maybe this is an obvious Claude Code thing, but I only just now figured it out: If you have a substantial plan you want Claude to execute, tell it to act as a manager and have subagents tackle the actual work Huge quality of life improvement

If GPT-5.1 is the decisive teammate and Opus 4.5 the disciplined architect, Gemini 3 is the dense engineer who delivers a fully reasoned diff that is confident, comprehensive, and intent on proving its point.

@deusaquilus @propensive The fish rots from the head. Perhaps the prime instigator’s role in this should be considered. Going back to the real world now, catch you all never.

Over the past decade @typelevel indeed have conducted themselves as a cancel-cult. This description by Sam Halliday is very apt. When they issued their life-destroying Open Letter against @propensive I was tempted to sign it for half a second. I knew it was going to happen in advance, I knew the people who were going to do it, and I knew more detail than most about the events that happened. Then some wise friends reminded me that by signing this monstrosity I would have violated every value related to justice, rule of law, and presumption of innocence that I hold dear. I rapidly realized the idiocy of my thinking. If you’ve heard of names like Nechemya Weberman and Chaim Walder, then you know of egregious sexual abuse that happened in my own community. The situation that happened with @propensive was a universe of difference from that and I knew it. It was a convoluted superposition of jealousy, delusion, and very mismatched expectations, but ultimately everyone involved was a consenting adult. Actual adult relationships happened and sadly they didn't work out. All the therapists and resentment and mental anguish and behavior-labeling of all parties involved ultimately just reduced to that. A real judge in a real court unsurprisingly figured all of this out fairly quickly. As the facts stand today, there is nothing else to it. Some people have argued that community leaders should be held to a higher standard. This is a noble idea but it only works if you actually hear the leader's side of the story. The second you don't do that and believe them guilty a-priori, the entire argument becomes moot. Someone who you've already decided is evil can't possibly bear a "higher standard." It takes a special kind of will, conviction, and mental clarity in order to not be tempted by the will of the mob and @jdegoes exemplifies this. I did the only sane thing I could think of back in 2021 which was to keep my mouth shut. Then half a year later the same @typelevel people attempted to cancel me and @fbrasisil. My crime was moving Quill to the ZIO ecosystem and occasionally quoting Jordan Peterson. @fbrasisil's crime was nothing more than associating with me! @typelevel individuals went as far as to imply that I was some kind of despicable alt-right individual driven by some kind of despotic political motives. Travis Brown web-scraped an old twitter account that I had closed in an attempt to find dirt on me. Their presumption of my guilt was utterly overwhelming. One @typelevel member who I had personally known for years, who I considered a close friend, went as far as to suggest that I should apologize to Travis Brown for my conservative political leanings! As the debacle played it self out, I let the community know that I am a religious Jew and the grandchild of holocaust survivors and any alt-right “associations” were moot. I also quickly revealed that the reason I deleted my old twitter account was because my twitter addiction was getting in the way of me being able to take care of my newborn son. One @typelevel member who was jealous of me for a career-related matter kept trying to prove that I was transphobic through various twisted circular arguments. I later learned that this was a common scarlet-lettering tactic of the extreme left. @fbrasisil's experience was unfortunately far more traumatic than mine. @typelevel members and their sympathizers attempted to blackmail him and destroy his career very aggressively. This caused severe health and emotional repercussions. At one point I even told @fbrasisil that if he needs to, he should distance himself from me and ‘throw me under the bus’ if that will make things easier. Being the great friend that he is, he utterly refused no matter the consequence. The egregious injustice of cancel-culture is that anyone can use it against a neighbor that they are jealous of. Many of the people who attacked me and @fbrasisil did so for personal reasons or to try to somehow further their careers by dragging us down and/or signal virtue. The presumption of guilt in these kinds of conditions, inherently makes society backstabbing and adversarial. There were many who popularized Travis Brown’s escapades with good intention only to realize how quickly it all leads to hell. Now many of those people are rapidly trying to figure out how to save face. I sincerely hope that the Scala community has learned some valuable lessons from this set of experiences while it still has some clout and relevance.
