Art and literacy inspired by the novel “Song For A Whale”. Our last novel of the year and students took to learning some sign language that the book introduced. At the end each student chose a word that stood out to them, finger spelled it, and created their art @glendale_matich
Legacy: our class has been discussing how individuals can make an impact on their community. We considered, discussed, voted, designed, and built.
We are not yet done, but our goal is to have a bird feeder to bring into the Courage Garden for all to enjoy. @glendale_matich
Sustainability through entrepreneurship! #bownesssoapworks joined our community to create our own “Glendale Bowness Special” soap! Students learned about sustainability and tried their hand at how to make the soap! Stay tuned for how it turns out! @glendale_matich
Today is Global Parents Day! As a class we talked about what being a parent means and how families can look different! Students created a card addressed to someone who takes care of them in honour of today and all the caregivers of our community! @glendale_matich
Last week students were given a random party in the upcoming election to research. Today students reviewed each others findings to become “informed citizens” before taking part in their student vote! 🗳pictured are just some of the posters they made! @glendale_matich
Spring has sprung! Our classroom plants have been propagating and we are slowly beginning to plant them in small pots! Students will be responsible for watering their plant and watching them carefully until the end of the year! @glendale_matich
We are so grateful to have had the opportunity for one of our parents to come in and help students create their own Winter Counts- a way for students to tell their own stories for this past year. ❤️ @glendale_matich
In relation to talking, listening, watching, and creating dramatic works, students created their own puppets today. Next week we will use them to create short plays!

Publishing Party! A little while ago students’ wrote fantastic stories and we sent them to get published! Today each student got their book and had the chance to share and read their stories together. Great way to celebrate literacy just before spring break! @glendale_matich
Today students will showcase their poems in our “towns” poetry festival! We have been reading, listening, and writing a variety types of poems to enhance our understanding and ability to express our feelings and emotions in different styles of poetry! @glendale_matich

Book Club is underway! Yesterday students participated in a book tasting of a variety of books and chose their top 3. Today they got into their groups and began reading! We are excited to read, share, and consider the different communities in each story! @glendale_matich
