Although Jews criticize Israeli governments all the time, the concern is the pattern and tone Massie takes. His tendency to frame Israel and its supporters as shadowy forces manipulating American politics, or to imply divided loyalties among political actors.
Those themes are not new. They have appeared in antisemitic movements for centuries, whether on the far right or far left.
Thankfully Jews, Jewish organizations and non-Jews whose moral compass is in fine working order are raising funds in support of Massie’s opponent, Ed Gallrein.
