@Jomboy_ Would have to find a way to make the margin not the focus. Not sure how but sorta like in hoops with the restricted area or how charges are called now. Perhaps in that margin they just say it was close but not .01 vs .1? They misjudged what telling us all this info would do.

Genuine question:
Whatever you change the margin to… you’re always going to have calls that are 0.5% within that new area right? You can’t run away from this, right?

In this instance, less than 0.5% of the ball has actually touched zone. It does't seem justifiable to reverse the umpire's call. The ABS system calculates inches & surface data. I think the rules should be adjusted, so that 25% of the ball must be in the zone for a strike.

@DumbEinstein @MatthewLeeRosen It’s like a standard of below 63.5 inches and above 27.5 inches from the chest/ground. Now the strike zone of the player is also not affected by stance. Pesky small guy crouching or anyone is going to think the low ball is lower than the rules.

@MatthewLeeRosen The size of the strike zone has changed, you are correct (actually it was interpretations of the strike zone), but the application never changed. If any part of the ball is in the strike zone it has been a strike.
