@schafer_karl Yes. I might think of the view about truth as more pluralist or pragmatist than deflationist. But I think we’re on the same page here.
English

@mtchrisman (v) BUT I tend to bake more of (something like) a form of inferentialism into my conception of what deflationism is than most people, so that might mean we’re talking past each other here to some degree. (I suspect we have similar intuitions about some of this?)
English

@schafer_karl If theoretical, then isn’t the difficult issue how goodness or rightness could make such normative thoughts true?
Deflationism doesn’t answer that, though it might be consistent with attractive answers to this question. Same for various forms of pluralism about truth.
English

@schafer_karl If practical, then why doesn’t (1) win these folks the grounds for treating truth as its main standard?

Our branch will be on strike on Open Day on 16 Jun (and more next semester) over our employer's punitive deductions for marking and assessment boycott participation. How's that for #EdinburghImpact @EdinburghUni ? There is still time to prevent this. #ucuRISING

It's exam board season @EdinburghUni, and contrary to the claims of management the Marking and Assessment Boycott (MAB) by @ucu members is hitting hard. A thread 🧵

@Guy_fletcher_ That looks quicker than their email response team “dedicated to the needs of UoE staff.” Takes like 24h to get a quote that I can better on google in 2min.

@Finite_jest If sound, could something like this arg show it not to be the case that for every p you know there was point in the past when you formed the belief that p reliably? Also that not all tacit knowledge is a disposition to know?
English

@ShannonVallor I know some children who could basically fulfil that function for you, as long as you feed them sweets along the way. It’s not quite as cute as you think, but they do speak with Scottish accents and get excited about rainbows 😁

Not sure what to think about the fact that the physio wanted me to give him recommendations for which stoics to read. #kneepain
