It was impossible to know the footage was yours, as it was being posted by many sources, all adding their watermark. The intention of the watermarks is to avoid people copying our content, with many accounts using AI to automatically copy our tweets and media
Our system is to avoid adding watermark on content from citizen journalists or other X accounts, and only add watermarks on widely available content, like a Trump interview on 60 minutes, or a Putin speech
We also source content more than any other account on X, almost all our posts have a source. But it is impossible to always find the original source for a piece of content, despite our largest 24x7 team of writers, editors, and news aggregation and verification team. We try our best
We always recommend people to add their watermark on a video they film and post so when millions of accounts post it, the watermark is clear and the original source does not get lost in the process

...just found an underwater IED!!!!
Apparently a grenade-type bomb was sitting submerged at the bottom of a dam that holds an entire city's DRINKING WATER.
It took FIVE agencies: the FBI, ALEA, the Sheriff, Mobile PD, and a maritime render-safe team, to pull it out and detonate it.
Someone put a BOMB in our water supply...
