@hdcmaldives must make a clear decision/policy on whether @MyHulhumalemv is a vehicle first, human last, vehicle centric city & decide whether parking on pavements are acceptable, and if so put parking signs on pavements so it becomes fair to all vehicles owners & ban walking.

I fucking WISH they'd do propaganda for pedestrian friendly cities lmfao unfortunately doesn't make any companies much money if everyone just walks freely without being stuck in traffic jams in their fuel guzzling vehicles paying for licenses and fines and repairs and penalties

@ameen3d when you allow registration on these lots, it will increase the import/registration of vehicles to already overloaded GMA. It is also priced so average car owners who took installments to buy car cannot afford it. Focus should be on reducing/ phasing out cars w alternatives

@ameen3d 3. Introduction of multilevel parking buildings: Parking buildings are needed but this was not done to alleviate illegal street parking or congestion; this was done as a profit making venture that benefits the contractor & the gov, especially with ability to register cars here/

Exactly! I met @ameen3d during a meeting with Bike Maldives, where he clearly said Male’ has around 20K cars more than it’s carrying cap & works are under way to limit vehicles. He also said a bicycle share program is underway. However his actions are completely opposite 🧵 👇🏾
🗣️@hathareskan

Petition to have the Transport Minister subjected to how ordinary citizens travel. Take the bus. Hail a taxi. Walk places. They need to understand how poor the roads are, how challenging hailing a cab is, and internalize what needs done @MMuizzu Transport Ministers should be exempt from being provided state owned vehicles. Nahula in previous administration and Ameen in this administration— both too elitist to understand the real issues & therefore, be passionate about the cause. Male’ has become increasingly difficult to live in, walk about, and is hazardous to our mental wellbeing.

@MVGone @ehmedhu @FainaFaiz Whoever you vote, do they listen to good policies you propose? can you share an example when your representative listened and you got the change/policy you pitched in?

@ehmedhu @FainaFaiz It has nothing to do with “interest.” Politics affects every other aspect of ur life. Your most basic responsibility is to participate. And the least of that responsibility is voting. Being a citizens in a democratic society is not free. Democracies require an active citizenry.

We have to completely rethink how & why we “develop” our streets in our small islands. The primary purpose of our streets shouldn’t be for vehicles, rather it should be to build community. Originally posted on facebook on 31st March.

I love the initiative and creativity of these Fuvahmulah kids to promote bicycle in a city and a country full of motorcycles and fuel vehicles No toxic pollutants, environment friendly. We should encourage people to use bicycles ❤️🚲 #FreeThemBikes

I have filed a RTI to better understand why these bicycles were towed, specifically interested in learning about the exact legal violations cited @PoliceMv @Shifan4040 @PoliceMvCP @bikemaldives @AimonLatheef

Towing these bicycles will not only further tarnish the reputation of the police institution, but it will also affect these kids mentally. They modified them with their own hands, with the help of elders. They were enjoying what they built, and you simply took it away from them. In reality, you should be facilitating a safe environment for them to succeed giving them the opportunity to grow and move forward. Using force against young kids with talent will only weaken society. Customizing a bicycle at a young age shows creativity, curiosity, and practical skill-building traits that deserve encouragement and support. It’s important to understand that efforts like these usually come from a sincere desire to learn, explore, and innovate. @PoliceMv @Shifan4040 @MMuizzu @FaisalNasym @ismailrafeeq

I found the kid engineer Aizan Amjadh. He’s the youngr brother of Auzaam @ZuvaanE. Evn more inspiring, Aizan is currently pursuing engineering studies @MNUedu. Genuinely excited to see how far he’ll go and all the incredible things he’ll achieve. Had a phone call conversation too

Such incredible talent and creativity. Need to find and support these young, enthusiastic minds and focus on nurturing their potential. Would also inspire many more to be innovative and creative. The future of our nation lies in empowering our youth. @MMuizzu @AswardWaheed

Why can’t we have open bidding and or proposal based opportunities to bring cool services/products/experiences for commercial spaces at VIA? I hope this would be considered for a fair opportunity for all interested & to increase interesting projects @NurainJanah @MACLmedia

@hdcmaldives is removing bicycle lanes. When i called hdc to inquire about this, they said it was requested by @PoliceMv - i didn’t realize MPS was in charge of city/road design decisions. Why are HML roads not under @MaleCitymv as promised by @MMuizzu ? @FaZuLRaShYd

personally, i wouldn’t use a bicycle lane that’s used as CAR PARKING and as a MOTORBIKE LANE either 🙄 sad for the expats who used this lane regularly, zigzagging between parked cars and who managed to not get hit by motorcyclists using the lane.
