@StuartPenney1 @peterglazed Ps during the change there was a lot of crossing over with dual Kinney /pye matrices on discs with both K for kinney labels & WS/RSLP ones. Same with Atlantic group K/polydor matrices where the change was about a year later. Atlantic were also big on stickering for Kinney c 72

Four variations of the Incredible String Band's 1968 album "Wee Tam & the Big Huge." The cover photos were taken in Frank Zappa's LA garden at 2401 Laurel Canyon Blvd. John Mayall also spent time there and he recorded the song "2401" for his 1968 LP "Blues From Laurel Canyon"

@StuartPenney1 @peterglazed I find all these moves fascinating. With the loss of Warner Reprise UK PYE would cease to be a relevant player by the mid 70s, UK Decca too with only it's Stones back cat to keep it going. Polygram ( Polydor/Philips ) group & Warner wld even supplant EMI fm it's perch by late 70s

@StuartPenney1 @peterglazed Kinney/Warner also took over the Atlantic group fm UK Polydor & of course Warner Reprise which until 71 had been distributed by UK PYE. Oddly enough ELEKTRA/ASYLUM complete with it's new K for Kinney Warner prefixes then moved distribution to EMI c72-5 b4 going back to Warners

@muffmasterh @peterglazed Yes, Elektra distribution moved from Polydor to Warner Bros in 1971. Warners were owned by the car park company Kinney at that time, hence the "K" prefixes. In 1972 Kinney became Warner Communications and later Time Warner

19 year old Iranian wrestling champion Saleh Mohammadi was just publicly executed for protesting against the Islamic Regime. So, to all liberal Westerners: Watch and learn. This is what it’s like to ACTUALLY live in a nation with no free speech.

📰 Record Mirror – The Charts (Singles & Albums) Writer: Record Mirror Chart Department Date: March 18, 1972 A snapshot of Britain’s musical heartbeat in March 1972 — a week where Nilsson reigned, Don McLean soared, Lindisfarne broke through, and T. Rex’s Electric Warrior continued its long, golden glow. Glam rising, folk storytelling surging, and chart pop reshaping the nation’s sound. The Record Mirror charts for March 18, 1972 capture a moment of transition: American singer-songwriters dominate the top tier, glam rock simmers beneath, and British folk-rock finds its footing. Nilsson holds No. 1 with “Without You,” Don McLean’s “American Pie” refuses to fall, and Lindisfarne’s “Meet Me on the Corner” climbs into the Top 10. On the albums side, Paul Simon, Neil Young, and T. Rex define the era’s competing moods. 📰 Key Highlights • Nilsson’s “Without You” holds the No. 1 single spot • Don McLean’s “American Pie” remains a cultural force at No. 2 • Lindisfarne score a Top 10 hit with “Meet Me on the Corner” • T. Rex’s “Telegram Sam” sits mid-chart as glam continues its ascent • Electric Warrior remains a Top 10 album months after release

@peterglazed @StuartPenney1 Stereo originals are actually harder to find than mono's ( for most UK Albums tbh ), the record companies had to more or less force us into stereo 69/70 as most still had dansette style players, we were scared these would damage stereo records even though most would not !

Rejoining the EU would mean free movement to U.K. for everyone coming into the EU , us paying around £34 billion fee pa, adopting the euro, no control of interest rates, EU regulation by technocrats, loss of superior trade deals , likely EU army, EU Net Zero disaster, etc
Sadiq Khan@SadiqKhan

The evidence is overwhelming: Brexit has been a disaster for London and the UK. Rejoining the EU is now clearly in our national interest. The option to rejoin should be on the ballot at the next General Election. theguardian.com/politics/2026/…
