@Limorio_ Gen Z is not an age group; it is a spirit and a lifestyle 😂😂

@BiancaNaom1 He knew about the debt before he took the job. He said once given an opportunity he will get us out of this while improving the quality of life of Kenyans, bottom up. What changed?

President William Ruto finds himself in a tight spot—between a rock and a hard place, for that matter! Despite inheriting a country whose economy is marred by debts running into over 10 trillions and pending bills close to 600 billions, the youth expect him to accomplish what Jomo Kenyatta didn't do in 15 years: Moi didn't do it in 24 years; Kibaki didn't do it in 10 years; and Uhuru Kenyatta didn't do it in 10 years! They expect him to turn Kenya into a utopia in two years, employ all graduates, create new factories, and revive death factories within these years. From where I sit, President William Ruto has tried too many things a transformational leader can do within the 18 months he has been in office! Do you know that when Ruto took office, universities were on the brink of collapse because of over KES 60 billion in debt? Do you know that the sugar sector was on its knees, but it took Ruto's intervention to write off KES 117, 000, 000, 000 owed by sugar factories to the government, and now you're buying sugar at KES 280 per 2 kg packet that was going at KES 450? Do you know that, despite Uhuru Kenyatta channelling billions into the maize milling sector, the cost of unga was going at KES 260? It has taken Ruto's intervention to see the cost of unga come to less than KES 150! Do you think it's Ruto's administration that has hired the highest number of teachers within the span of 18 months it has been in power compared to other administrations within the same period?

In the ugly face of vaccine nationalism, 'the only way we can make the world safe is to have the research & production capacity for making vaccines & other pharmaceutical products distributed throughout the world.'

@opatipatric @brianmutinda_ I have been trying to get clarification where the extra 55k is coming from and @HELBpage is not responding. It is not 100% waiver then.

Very excited to be speaking at @NanoporeConf with @LaraUrban42 about our respective projects using portable nanopore sequencing out on one of Aotearoa New Zealand's remote offshore islands. Both projects to help conservation of the amazing but endangered kākāpō, and both very fun
Oxford Nanopore Events@NanoporeConf
At #nanoporeconf @LaraUrban42 & @Marissa_LeLec will demonstrate how in situ real-time employment of portable genomic monitoring has enabled rapid adjustment to their conservation management, opening completely new avenues for conservationists: bit.ly/37cPHFG

@laura_boykin @NextGenBUG Perfect! @mugabre, would you be happy to present a 30min talk virtually for us sometime around the end of August, start of September?
English

@laura_boykin we have a regular meeting for Scottish bioinformatics people called @NextGenBUG. Next one is being arranged for the end of Aug/Sept, I was wondering if you'd like to be our invited speaker? Would love to hear more about your nanopore work with farmers...
