We can criticise, but also give credit where it’s due. The arrest of senior energy officials, including EPRA DG Daniel Kiptoo and KPC MD Joe Sang, both from the President’s own community, signals a clear commitment by Ruto to tackling corruption head-on.
@adnan_aliyu@MathGuyTFL There are two possible solutions:
x² = 49 → x = 7 or x = -7
Case 1: x = 7 → y = 5 - 7 = -2 → y² = 4
Case 2: x = -7 → y = 5 - (-7) = 12 → y² = 144
So y² is either 4 or 144.
🚨 The Sovereign Wealth Fund Bill was in Parliament last week.
Kenyans are being told:
“We’re saving for the future.”
But if you read the bill, the structure tells a very different story:
👉 The Cabinet Secretary determines how the money is split between funds (p.10)
👉 The board is largely made up of government-linked officials and appointees (p.20)
👉 Key decisions sit within government structures, including the Cabinet Secretary (p.18)
Now here is the contradiction they won’t explain:
👉 Money from this “future savings fund” can be withdrawn into the Consolidated Fund, the same government budget used for day-to-day spending (p.11)
So ask yourself:
If this is truly a protected savings fund for future generations...
Why is the Cabinet Secretary part of a structure that allows that money to flow back into current government spending?
Because this is what it actually looks like:
👉 “I’m saving money for my child’s future...
....but I still keep the ATM card and can withdraw anytime I want.”
Is that really savings... or just delayed spending?
And it doesn’t end there:
👉 “Strategic infrastructure” spending is broadly defined under government priorities (p.12)
👉 The future generations fund allows policy-based adjustments within government structures (p.13-14) that could open doors for further misuse.
Meaning:
The portion meant for the future is not fully ring-fenced.
It can be influenced.
It can be adjusted.
It can be redirected.
Yes, the bill mentions audits (p.15).
But Kenya has never lacked laws or audits.
The issue has always been control and enforcement.
So let’s be honest:
This is not a strictly protected “save now, use later” fund.
This is a government-managed fund, heavily influenced by the Cabinet Secretary, with built-in pathways back into current spending.
And the question Kenyans should be asking is simple:
If the Cabinet Secretary can influence allocation, approvals, and withdrawals....
Who is actually protecting the wealth meant for future generations?
@Paul_Muite SC, kindly guide us on the rationale behind the bill noting that KUSCCO, similar to the 'SUPER SACCO ' was mismanaged leading to loss of money to member Saccos.
SACCO Amendment Bill--Were the majority of members ever consulted? 15% taxation!
Bureaucracy in salaries/allowances.
SACCOs built over the years by members' contributions, majority being women. Savings now on the verge of being looted
Civil Societies, take this to Court
@Dkt_Hussein@sholard_mancity Someone is just salivating for the billions Saccos are transacting. How come that members deposit security is guaranteed only up to Ksh 100, 000?
@sholard_mancity Nonsense 😠
SACCOs are fast becoming conduits for laundering stolen billions. The new law seeks to empower KUSCCO to better safeguard members’ funds, especially amid rising cases of mismanagement and loss through dubious practices. Let’s engage the facts honestly.
🚨 There’s a SACCO bill in Parliament today, and most Kenyans don’t even know what’s coming.
Quietly... with almost no public attention…
A system is being introduced that will centralize SACCO money, and Govt will now have a massive say in it.
Think of it as a “Super SACCO” for all SACCOs.
It will:
- Hold funds from different SACCOs
- Manage liquidity
- Run payments
- Lend to SACCOs
- Invest your money
Sounds safe? Here’s the reality:
❗ SACCOs could lose some operational independence
❗ Oversight becomes much heavier (via Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority)
❗ Leaders must meet “fit & proper” approval
❗ Strict reporting & constant supervision
And yes, this could mean slower access to your money in some situations.
Now the part they won’t emphasize:
Your savings are only protected up to KSh 100,000
If a SACCO collapses?
Anything above that = your risk.
Even worse:
⚠️ Payouts are NOT immediate
⚠️ Must be approved & gazetted first
⚠️ You could wait while your money is locked
So ask yourself:
Why centralize SACCO money...
But limit protection for members?
This bill is being sold as “safety.”
But it also introduces control by the government, delays, and new risks for ordinary Kenyans.
This is how systems change,
slowly, quietly... then permanently
@Wavinya_Ndeti Have you fully paid MOVATA DESIGNS ? We are not clowns. Long statements won't help and kioko and Co are not mad persons to claim what they do not deserve. Pay Bills madam.
RE: CLARIFICATION ON PENDING SUPPLIER PAYMENTS AND RECENT EVENTS IN MACHAKOS TOWN
Fellow residents of Machakos County,
I wish to address the public following recent statements and events involving Mr. Sammy Kioko and the concerns raised regarding alleged non-payment for supplies made to the County Government.
First and foremost, I express concern over the unfortunate incident that occurred in Machakos Town on 31st March, 2026. As a County Government, we do not condone violence in any form and we urge all parties to exercise restraint and allow lawful and orderly processes to prevail.
Let me take this opportunity to clarify the position of the County Government on this matter specifically and generally on the matter of pending bills .
Our records indicate that Mr. Sammy Kioko is not a registered supplier of the County Government of Machakos. The entity that supplied Inspectorate uniforms is Movata Designs. For any individual to lawfully act on behalf of the company, proper legal authorization must be presented, including a valid Power of Attorney, formal appointment by the company, or representation through a qualified advocate.
We acknowledge that supplies were made by Movata Designs, however, partial delivery occurred towards the close of the financial year 2023/2024 and therefore inspection and acceptance of the partial delivery could not be conducted. Movata Designs’ payment was therefore classified as a pending bill, in line with Public Finance Management procedures.
As an administration committed to transparency and accountability, my government established a Pending Bills Committee to ascertain the existence, completeness, and legitimacy of projects underlying all pending bills.
Further, upon the recommendation of the Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) and the Office of the Controller of Budget (OCoB), I constituted the Machakos County Pending Bills Verification Committee to rigorously verify inherited pending bills amounting to KES 3,812,256,795.
Upon completion of this exercise, the Committee established that:
• KES 2,126,781,000 constituted eligible (payable) pending bills; and
• KES 1,685,475,795 were ineligible claims, comprising:
• KES 927,582,267 in unverified legal fees; and
• KES 757,893,528 relating to claims with incomplete documentation.
Since assuming office, my administration has made deliberate and measurable progress. Out of the eligible historical pending bills of KES 2,126,781,000, we have already settled KES 642,345,765, leaving a balance of KES 1,484,435,235.
This outstanding balance will be systematically addressed through the 1st Supplementary Budget for the Financial Year 2025/2026 and subsequent financial years, in line with available resources.
