@Fubler @teh_islander There has to be more than 100 taxis that aren't on the road and the 16 hour law needs to change as well! I'm aware and understand the reasons why owners are reluctant to rent out the taxi, but adding more taxi permits and enforcing the law, would have eased the transport issue

What you described was making BTOA the central dispatch, no? There were approx. 100 taxis not on the road and TCD cut that number in half by contacting those permit holders earlier this year. Some of the remaining off the road are there due to parts, probate, etc. My understanding is that the efforts to enhance enforcement improvement continue. In talking to some owners, they're reluctant to rent their taxi to others because they've ben burned with the vehicle coming back damaged. Should we really be forcing them to choose between driving for 16hrs / day and risking their vehicle being off the road while awaiting repairs?

@Fubler @teh_islander Current market value is $100k. Central dispatch isn't the issue, it's the lack of oversight of the laws. There's 600 licensed taxis, but not all on the road due to many factors, yet nothing is done! It's akin to the housing island wide. Fix what's here before looking elsewhere

What is the current value of the taxi permit? @Fubler @teh_islander Yeah, considering the government is devaluing the taxi permit value, why not give them the dispatching rights for PSV's?! The updates on their app like any new tech, can be achieved quickly.

For all things PSV related? 😅 What happens to Hitch, Ride and any other despatching services? The rideshare amendment requires rideshare vehicles to register with every despatching service. (Section 35H) I think the Journi app needs some work first. Only 4 reviews so far and people with good experiences often don’t review it, but I’m getting the same “update available” loop that Rock Scuttle has. I’ll give it another go when I’m back on island

@Fubler @teh_islander Most laws are dated. But why not allow the BTOA to be the sole dispatcher for all things PSV related? I know the BTOA were also looking to include the minibuses on their app at one point, so why not allow them to continue that journey with all PSV vehicles?

@multi_TALLENTED @teh_islander My understanding is that they need to register as a company, they're currently a Non-profit org., and apply to the Public Service Vehicle Licensing Board for a despatching permit. Taxis will have first option to respond to rideshare requests.

Are you threatening to sue me? I asked a question. Didn't imply anything. We know the fund was set up by private investors through the Bermuda Government but how was rugged selected over current vehicles, Bermuda rentals, and Oleander Cycles? I just find it interesting that the fund failed, and if there wasn't any repayment the principle of the loans had to be paid with taxpayer money. Care to shed some light on that?
