Even Hope sees the problem with this manifesto. It has the makings of a theocracy. Moreover, Chamisa has not been coy about his intentions. We just thought it was misguided religious zeal but it's clear from this manifesto he intends to start a theocracy
Hopewell Chin’ono@daddyhope

I am reading the CCC election manifesto and something jumped out which I want to talk about. Opposition should avoid getting itself entangled in emotional arguments of faith and religion. Zimbabwe doesn’t need a theocracy run by Christians because we have Muslims, Hindus, traditional religion folk and even atheists who are Zimbabweans. They are all bonafide citizens who should not feel ostracised because one belief has been put ahead of others. The opposition should promise to run the State professionally without religion dictates. Zimbabwe should always be a secular State where every citizen feels protected by the State regardless of their religious views. I have had this discussion with Nelson Chamisa in 2020 and we agreed to disagree. I am a Christian but that is my religious belief which I should not impose on anyone else, more so if I am President. My view is that politicians should keep their faith to themselves and not impose their beliefs on everyone else. More importantly, they should avoid putting things in manifestos that will take away focus from real issues of hospitals, schools, jobs, economy, infrastructure and related issues. Zimbabwe should be a secular State where there is separation between the Church and the State.

This is going to be a case of "I told you exactly what I was going to do and you still voted me in" when this religious fundamentalist starts his theocratic gov and the moral police start knocking on our doors

@zimlive ZANU has just succeeded in making a real hero out of Sikhala. That's how a hero is made, publicly, with gruelling and brutal effort. The sympathies of the public are with the hero.

@TotsShelly I can't lie, being black has been great all-around. If you could change today from being white to black would you do it? You get to escape the misfortunes of whiteness and your now black children can go to the top universities of their choice

Today Belarus President, Alexander Lukashenko, arrived in Zimbabwe for a historic three-day State visit, his first such visit to a sub-Saharan country. I look forward to exploring how our two great countries may work together and trade with each other in the future.

@DrivenChapman This would be a terrible idea. To put such a monstrosity in the midst of pristine natural beauty. Moreover, these western franchises have no transformative effect on the economic mobility of locals. It's better to center mom-and-pop hotels and lodges

May Zimbabwe be renewed and begin to grow in tolerance, being able to attract quality in its leadership ranks. May our politics attract strong men and women who stand on firm core values, unshakable principles and solid reformation of manners. Blessed Sunday to you Zimbabwe!
