The different yolk colours you’re seeing are normal and mainly caused by feed differences, not disease. Main reasons: Type of feed ✅️Yolk colour depends on pigments (xanthophylls & carotenoids) in the diet. ✅️Birds fed maize, palm oil, green vegetables, alfalfa, grasses → deep yellow/orange yolk. ✅️Birds fed wheat, cassava, sorghum, low-pigment feed → pale or whitish yolk. 2. Different birds or different feeding times ✅️Eggs may come from different hens. ✅️ Or the same hen fed differently over time. 3. Free-range vs caged Free-range birds eating insects and greens usually produce darker yolks. Important note: ❌ Not a disease ❌ Not harmful ✅ Safe to eat if the egg is fresh and not spoiled. If you want uniform yolk colour: ✅️Use consistent feed. ✅️Add maize, palm oil, or approved yolk pigment supplements. As a vet, I’ll say clearly: yolk colour = nutrition, not health status of the hen.
