Comparing Wayne Rooney to Neymar Jr. doesn’t make sense. Respect Neymar’s talent, but he didn’t matched Rooney’s goals, achievements, or legacy in football. Rooney’s impact, consistency, and history in the game are on a different level put some respect on his name.

DID YOU KNOW Nyamutamba Hotel, situated in Zengeza 2, Chitungwiza (a high-density suburb south of Harare, Zimbabwe), was one of the pioneering black-owned hospitality and entertainment venues in post-independence Zimbabwe. It played a notable role in the town’s social and cultural life, particularly as a music and youth hub, before falling into decline amid the country’s broader economic challenges. Ownership The hotel was originally owned by Kenneth Kambasha (now deceased), a pioneer indigenous Zimbabwean businessman and philanthropist. Kambasha, who also operated Nyamutamba Bus Services, represented the wave of black entrepreneurs who emerged after independence in 1980. He was closely connected to local networks; for instance, he assisted with bus permit processing and was known for his generosity, including personally funding the education of family members and friends (such as supporting Obert Gutu’s schooling and university studies in the early 1980s). In the 1990s, Kambasha sold the hotel to Kenny Mubaiwa (also known as a prominent businessman and former chairman of Dynamos Football Club). Mubaiwa came from a business-oriented family in Seke (near Chitungwiza) that had operated shops and a vegetable garden since the 1960s. Under his ownership, the hotel retained the Nyamutamba name and became more focused on entertainment. Rise Kambasha established Nyamutamba as an early indigenous (“ghetto”) hotel project, modelled in part after iconic venues like Mushandira Pamwe Hotel. It gained real prominence after the 1990s sale to Mubaiwa, transforming into a popular 5-star-level destination and cultural landmark. During its peak (roughly the 1990s to mid-2000s), it hosted legendary Zimbabwean musicians, including Thomas Mapfumo, John Chibadura (affectionately called “Mr Chitungwiza”), System Tazvida, Marshall Munhumumwe, Knowledge KunenyatI, and the Kassongo Band. It was also a youth hotspot for events like the popular “Teen Scene” shows. The venue drew crowds for live performances and became synonymous with Chitungwiza’s vibrant nightlife and social scene. As late as 2005, it still hosted music showcases featuring artists such as Mike Mopo and others. In 2003, it gained brief national attention when MDC politicians and activists were arrested there during a period of political tension. Decline The hotel’s fortunes reversed with Zimbabwe’s severe economic crisis (late 1990s onward), marked by hyperinflation, shortages, and broader business collapse. Operations dwindled after the peak years; while some events continued into the mid-2000s, patronage and maintenance suffered. By later years, it had closed as a functioning hotel. Local references now describe it as a “ghost place,” an “eyesore,” or simply a landmark for nearby properties and rentals in Zengeza 2. Nostalgic posts on social media recall its glory days with musicians and Teen Scene events, but it no longer operates commercially. Today, Nyamutamba Hotel stands as a symbol of both the entrepreneurial spirit of Zimbabwe’s early independence era and the impact of prolonged economic hardship on local businesses. Its story is preserved mainly through personal tributes, old photos, and community memories rather than active use.

That could be a factor. Remember these are kids not professionals and aren’t equipped to deal with the negativity and abuse from people like @DanielSson85. I would like to put it to @DanielSson85, would you be happy for us to do the same to your kids? I mean abuse them the way you abuse other people’s kids here? That behaviour has to stop, no kids or any human being deserves any form of abuse/harassment. There is no place for racism in this world.

The coaching staff have to be questioned, they have had these guys at close quarters for the last 12 months and very little evidence of progress being made.

Kevin Pietersen vs India — pure box office. In just 28 Test innings, he passed 50 12 times, hit 6 tons, and 3 of those were 150+. Scores that scream dominance: 202*, 186, 175, 144, 134, 101, 87, 73, 64, 63, 63, 54. A different beast altogether. x.com/englandcricket…

Zimbabwean Football 👏 I love football and I am considering buying shares in Scottland FC, i foresee the team going far, even representing Zimbabwe at global stage. However, i deeply feel, It is pure Witchcraft to ignore these two young men’s contributions to Zimbabwe’s football. Few years down the line, infact not even years but months ago…our grounds were empty, from financially supporting the National team, to supporting other teams in the league, it is high time we appreciate their contribution. Hon Scott, you brought back the love for football and ignited the passion within our supporters. Zimbabweans love football and making our league so competitive and also supporting other league teams financially is commendable honorable. Mwari awedzere… Sir Wicknell you continue to do good for our football, from the days of Dr Chiyangwa as Chair to sponsoring Highlanders, Bosso, we appreciate you. Special mention to Simba Bhora Owner, Mwos Owners, Caps United Owner, Herentals Owner, Ngezi Platinum Owners, and the rest of our league teams owners, i cannot mention them all….these men put in real money to our beautiful game and we are back to loving our beautiful game. Within the same appreciation, PLEASE ZIFA MAY you fire NEES as the national team coach NOW, 2 wins in 15games is a JOKE, he will embarrass us at the AFCON.
