I've never seen the level of sheer abusive language against any Indian politician that was on display at Jantar Mantar against Modi. And not only words, but in graphic images, cartoons. Make of it politically what you will.

I got this message today from the head of an important central government body - a technocrat, not politician. I am at a loss for words.

Two things are clear with the resignation of #DharmendraPradhan : 1. This govt, known to brazen it out & dig in its heels, will eventually succumb despite all hubris if the right kind of pressure is applied. Three examples : Land Acquisition law dilution in its early years; Repeal of farm laws & now, Mr Pradhan’s resignation. 2. Nothing remains more important to Modi-Shah combine than not risking electoral damage. Perhaps in an echo chamber after so many years in power, their ability to read the ground has weakened. But once they realised how big this movement was getting and the extent of damage it could cause, they caved in.
