Brigadier (Rtd) Wilson Boinett had an illustrious career in the military before being tapped to head our country's intelligence agency.
Pleased to attend the launch of Brigadier Boinett's memoir ‘Fixing Spy Craft To Serve National Interests in Kenya: From the Colonial Special Branch To a Civilian National Intelligence Service’.
In this book, Brigadier Boinnett expertly narrates his efforts to transform the colonial-era Special Branch into a professional civilian service dubbed the National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS). The reforms he spearheaded shaped the current National Intelligence Service (NIS).
I congratulate Brigadier Boinett for taking the time to bequeath his vast wealth of knowledge to current and future generations of security and intelligence practitioners as well as the general public.

@itskipronoh @kipmurkomen is the right guy for the job. The work he has done to bring sanity to Kerio Valley began way before he became a CS or CS for Interior, for that matter.

Collaboration between citizens, security agencies and the two levels of Government go a long way in enhancing security and peaceful coexistence among individuals and communities.
During our Jukwaa La Usalama town hall meeting today at Makueni Boys High School, it emerged that security has improved in Makueni County because the county government and NG-CDF have complemented our efforts.
Boda boda robbery and murder, Gender-Based Violence, vandalism of critical infrastructure, highway crime, land disputes and human-wildlife conflicts, however, remain a challenge.
Administrators and the police are under instruction to step up vigilance in the county including on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway where road infrastructure and other critical installations are continuously under threat.
Our multi-agency reforms on the management of human-wildlife conflicts will see faster compensation for those affected even as we delineate clearer buffer zones between farms and conservation areas.
We are confident that our various policy reforms including modernization of the police service and the mainstreaming of village elders in the National Government Administration system will foster a more peaceful and cohesive society.
With us were Makueni Governor @GvnMutula , Senator Dan Maanzo, Makueni MP Suzzane Kiamba, DIG-KPS Eliud Lagat, MCAs, the clergy and other leaders.

Corruption makes Wananchi disaffected with the government and lose trust in politics. Those of us entrusted with the responsibility of serving Wananchi must never demand bribes as a condition for delivering services. I will never defend any administrator or security personnel who engage in corruption. Let us all be accountable and serve Raia with integrity.

JUKWAA LA USALAMA- MACHAKOS COUNTY CHAPTER
Held a meeting with the Machakos County Security Committee in the County Commissioner's office where we discussed the security challenges in the county and explored possible solutions.
The key issues raised include land grabbing and invasion orchestrated by criminal gangs, the proliferation of second-generation alcohol, vandalism of critical infrastructure and human-wildlife conflicts.
The long-standing land ownership disputes remain a major contributor to insecurity in Machakos County. We will compile a report that will inform the development of a national policy to address land ownership disputes especially cases involving large tracts of land which have been invaded by squatters and land grabbers.
I was joined by Internal Security PS Dr. Raymond Omollo, Eastern Regional Commissioner Paul Rotich, Machakos County Commissioner Josephine Ouko and other senior officials from the ministry.

President Ruto is genuinely and progressively honouring his commitment to empower the people by enhancing access to key government services. I want to highlight two transformative developments from the past week that inspire hope and progress.
First, the initiative to provide #freeIDCards to every person is not just groundbreaking; it’s life-changing. For young individuals seeking employment, having an ID is essential. This initiative has the power to uplift lives, easing the burden on families who depend on this crucial document—something many middle-class urban residents may easily overlook.
Additionally, possessing an identity card is indispensable for those aspiring to work abroad. To be considered by employment agencies, one must obtain a Certificate of Good Conduct, which requires a National Identity Card for the application. Making these identity cards free is a monumental victory, especially for individuals who often cannot afford the application fee. This represents a significant milestone for our nation, particularly for GenZ, who form the backbone of our workforce.
Second, since President @WilliamsRuto took office in 2022, approximately 360 subcounties have been established nationwide. In 2024, the Interior Ministry gazetted about 550 administrative units, including locations and divisions, notably in opposition strongholds. Last Thursday, while officiating the opening of the Abogeta subcounty in Meru County, CS @kipmurkomen underscored that plans are in motion to equip these subcounties to provide more services, including issuing identity cards. Recently, CS Murkomen also announced the creation of six additional subcounties in Nairobi and the security-troubled TransMara region.
What do these numerous subcounties mean for you as an individual? Each newly established subcounty will have its administrative headquarters, focusing on decentralising services and improving access to resources. Subcounties in Kenya are important in bringing government services closer to the people, fostering local participation in governance, and stimulating economic development by ensuring the efficient delivery of resources and programs from national and county governments. The positive reception that the President received during his ongoing development tour of Nairobi County reflects this progress.
The warmth and support shown to the President are a testament to the understanding of the profound impact these administrative units have on the lives of individuals. With extensive public service experience, the President deeply understands the needs of the citizens, earning the support of like-minded leaders dedicated to development. Together, we are building a brighter future for all.
