@Landon had a great day at the Houston Christian (HCU) spring game today. His snaps were great. Too bad there weren't live operations with fullspecial teams vs defense, but it is understandable! We even had some crawfish broil afterwards @TheChrisRubio #M4 @UnitedKicking

The 5 year eligibility is no longer a matter of IF but WHEN. And could be implemented to include those who will be Seniors this fall. For those of you wondering WHY 5 years, this is my personal analysis: the whole NCAA settlement is based on antitrust laws, and the fact that the courts have ruled it’s illegal to prevent student athletes from profiting on their NIL. If you think about it, athletes only have to take 12 credit hours per semester to be eligible. So if you divide that out for normal graduation requirements that equals five years. If an athlete wants to just do the minimum to remain eligible and prefers to stretch out their college experience to five years, who is anyone to tell them they have to graduate in four? That becomes a personal choice that abides by the rules so would it not also be illegal to prevent them from earning money on their name, image and likeness all five years? At least that’s what I suspect the logic (and legal concern by the NCAA) is. Of course, the biggest obstacle here is going to be how they implement it in consideration of 1) roster limits and 2) scholarships. The easiest thing to do would be to exempt any 5th years from said roster limits. However, that would greatly complicate the whole scholarship situation. If you were looking at a fully funded women’s soccer team with 28 scholarships and three seniors wanted to stay for their fifth year, they would either have to stay for no money or the school would have to take a scholarship away from someone else which is not legal. I think these are probably all the issues being debated right now.

The NCAA is exploring a significant change to its eligibility rule, sources tell @YahooSports. The proposal creates an age-based standard: Athletes would have 5 years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or HS graduation. No redshirts or waivers. bit.ly/3POqo2D

@PeteThamel Well, they had better stop paying players then, or that sounds like an age discrimination of fair labor, lawsuit real fast.

UPDATE: The NCAA DI Cabinet will hold a further discussion on age-based eligibility later today. This idea would essentially eliminate redshirts and give college athletes five years of eligibility starting when you graduate high school or when you turn 19. Whichever is earlier.

Agreed! However.....ranking camps are an opportunity to assess/test and theb reassess/retest. You can't make progress if you don't know where you are. Also, there is no better place to be put in the refiners' fire than at some of these ranking camps. I am not saying ranking camps are everything, but they are good assessment tools for self development

Long snappers, Many of you have or are planning to attend ranking camps. The reality is that the majority of you are underdeveloped but feel rushed to enter the camp cycle. The cream rises to the top because they are experienced and ready for that exposure. If you aren’t ready, seek a legit snapping coach to assess and prepare you. 🤟

@CoachBigPete I will whole heartedly agree with the statement of not to pay recruiting services though. The ones we did were a major scam and are some of the highest "rated" services out there.

So if you are in a state like MT with minimal college coaches that show up at your high school, horrible game film that is usually done by some young non athlete, lack of stats recorded by your high school association, lack of stats reported online by coaches, How does an athlete get seen other than ranking and recruiting events?

@CoachBigPete With my 2 older boys we filled out hundreds of questionnaires and only got in with coaches that were recommended by the national camps (ranking camps) and given, my boys all focus on special teams for college level play. So maybe different?
