[25/05, 19:46] Warsama: STOP HEAVY ARMS FOR SOMALIA NOW MON MAY 26 2026 BY MOHAMED WARSAMA IT is extremely heart breaking to see hundreds of WhatsApp messages daily in Somalia social media crying about what is happening to the country and almost all cursing Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to high heavens. Turkey is hell bent in arming Hassan Sheikh to the teeth with heavy tanks and armoured cars in a reckless bid to impose his rule on the country so Ankara can exploit the oil, gas and other minerals secure in the knowledge that they have a puppet in Villa Somalia to do their bidding. Last March Turkey gave 10 to 15 refurbished tanks and a number of armoured cars to Hassan Sheikh. At the same time Pakistan is selling 24 JF-17 jet fighters at a cost of USD 600,000,000. The money is being given by Saudi Arabia. This is the wrong time to give these lethal arms to tribalist Hassan Sheikh Mohamud who is out to make himself dictator of all Somalia like Siyad Bare. Siyad Bare was Marehan-Darod while Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is Abgaal-Hawiye. I would not be surprised if Hassan is reasoning that it is the time for his Abgaal clan to rule Somalia through him for 21 years if not more and use force to impose his authority. He has invaded Southwest State where he is meeting resistance. He is next planning to invade Galmudug state inhabited by Habargidir and Marehan. He is also targeting Jubaland and says he will let Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni complete his five years before invading it. He and President Ismail Gelle are planning to start a Gudabursi secession war in Awdal now part of Somaliland. If he touches Galmudug it will trigger a civil war like in 1991 which led to the death of 350,000 to 1,000,000 mainly through hunger. People literally dropped dead from thirst and hunger on Mogadishu streets as Habargidir and Abgaal fought with tanks and APCs over which clan should supply the next President after the fall of Siyad Bare. We are now seeing a repeat of the same scenario with deadlock over presidential election. Hassan is digging in for two more years while the opposition said his term ended last May 15. Sooner or later the two sides will fight. Giving Hassan heavy tanks now is the most criminal act Erdogan is committing against Somalis. Thousands will perish. Erdogan has only given 15 old but refurbished tanks. Siyaad Bare had hundreds of tanks and APCs but the rebels with light weapons defeated him. Similarly the Ethiopian army which invaded Somalia up to Mogadishu was forced to withdraw its forces. Erdogan used to be regarded as a hero by Somalis when he came to Mogadishu in 2011 with famine relief at a time the world had turned its back on Somalia. But now he will be regarded as the worst enemy if his tanks are used to prop Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in power. Those jets from Pakistan will be used not against Alshabaab but against the federal states of Puntland, Galmudug and Jubaland. Somalis in Diaspora must protest at the UN. Don't bother with Aftican Union whose CEO Mahamud Yusuf only follows Djibouti's line in Somalia policy. The problem with Maandamano, especially in Mt Kenya towns is that Gavment allied politicians have mastered the art of hiring goons to vandalize property and portray protesters as criminals. Unless we find a solution to this problem, protests will continue being a net negative

TURKEY, UAE, ISRAEL FOMENTING CIVIL WAR IN SOMALIA SUN MAY 24 2026 BY MOHAMED WARSAMA I am now convinced that Turkey is behind the mad push by former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to establish an Erdogan-type of benevolent dictatorship in Somalia hiding behind the facade of a bogus unworkable 1P1V democracy. Former UN Special Representative James Swan was full of enthusiasm for moving Somalia forward towards multiparty democracy despite knowing fully well that large swathes of the country are under Alshabaab. He left for a similar post in DRC the same day Hassan forced through Parliament final changes to the Constitution. While Swan simply supported 1P1V Erdogan wanted Somalia to be modelled on his Turkey's democracy and moreover under the control of Hassan and his JSP party. Turkey has invested heavily in Somalia which is virtually a puppet of Turkey. UAE and Israel are on the other hand colluding to undermine Turkish influence. Israel is worried that Turkey will use the spaceport it is building in Somalia to test long range missiles that can be deployed against Israel. The stage is set for a new civil war 35 years after the 1991 war. Puntland's President Said Abdullahi Deni permitted youth to celebrate Somaliland's secession day on May 18 with dances and the Somaliland flag- an action viewed as high treason by many. Last Friday, angry elders of the Issa Mahamud who dominate Garowe, the Puntland capital, assembled a water bowser and soap and clan youth to clean the site of "najas " - impurity. In Galkaayu, Senator Abdi Qaybdid today issued a strong warning to Hassan Sheikh that Galmudug state is not Southwest State he invaded last month and that the dominant Habargidir will fight against him and his sham 1P1V. The 1991 civil war was between Habargidir and Abgaal clan of Hassan Sheikh. He dared Hassan to try and stop the opposition from holding a demo on June 4. Mogadishu Mayor Hassan Hussein Mungab today visited the TurkSom military training centre to inspect the combat readiness of Somali recruits for safeguarding the capital's security. Simultaneously units of the Presidential Corps fanned out in the vicinity of the presidential Palace today conducting house to house searches for weapons and checking on IDs of youth. This followed a similar check last week on Daynile area which is inhabited by the Murusade. The former President invited Murusade elders and elite today for talks on maintaining peace and security. Meanwhile Turkey is sending a high level delegation to Mogadishu to mediate between the former President and the opposition. The Opposition have accused Turkey of siding with Hassan, a charge it denies. MOHAMED WARSAMA

The Democratic Party (DP) expresses grave concern regarding the integrity of critical national procurement processes, particularly those related to election materials and public examinations. Of particular concern is the continued engagement of Lykos Printing Company in sensitive ballot printing arrangements, despite rising public anxiety over procurement transparency and accountability standards. In light of recent national examination-related scandals and broader questions about the credibility of high-stakes assessment and printing systems, the Party calls for immediate and urgent review of all contracts awarded in this space. We therefore demand that the relevant authorities initiate the immediate suspension and termination of the ballot printing contract involving Lykos Printing Company, pending a full, independent audit of the procurement process, contractual terms, and security safeguards. Kenya cannot afford any doubt, however small, on the integrity of its electoral materials or the institutions responsible for their production. The credibility of elections is non-negotiable and must be protected at all costs. The Democratic Party further calls for a comprehensive reform of procurement procedures in sensitive national functions to ensure transparency, competitiveness, and public confidence. Lessons must be drawn from recent examination-related controversies to prevent any repetition of systemic failures in other critical state processes. We also reiterate our concern over the broader governance environment, including rising political rhetoric that risks undermining national cohesion, and economic policy decisions that may negatively impact ordinary citizens. Kenya must uphold the highest standards of integrity in all its democratic and administrative processes. Anything less is unacceptable.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF GACHAGUA'S HAND GESTURE SUN MAY 24 2026 BY MOHAMED WARSAMA WHO is not familiar by now with the inevitable hand gesture of Rigathi Gachagua which he likes to use mostly in TV interviews and sometimes in rallies ? But do you know what it stands for spiritually in Kikuyu culture ? A little genie in a bottle urged me to check it out after I had started imitating it almost daily ! In Kikuyu culture, this hand gesture -where the four fingers point upward or outward with the thumb tucked below or across them - is historically known as the "Muciaro" or "Kiumbe" symbol. The thumb represents the ultimate life force, God ( Ngai), or divine energy, while the four fingers represent humanity.Enclosing the thumb with the fingers signifies that God is always hidden within us and protects us. The Five-Finger Meaning: When the hand is open, thr five fingers represent the complete human being, but hiding the thumb represents a person acting as a unified entity and maintaining the integrity of life. So Gachagua uses these gestures to establish himself as the embodiment of the Kikuyu community. However in global signals, the first gesture of four fingers up and your thumb tuck into your palm, is the universal signal for help for victims of abuse. The second gesture is four fingers bent over the thumb, and is a signal for help from domestic violence. Next time you see Gachagua in a TV interview watch out for this hand gesture. He uses it several times. NEXT: KIKUYU TABOO NUMBERS AND THE NATIONAL CENSUS MOHAMED WARSAMA

@paulinenjoroge @skmusyoka @RealMatiangi KIBAKI AND UHURU CREATED FREE EDUCATION CONVEYOR BELT FOR GEN Z CRIMINALS SAT MAY 23 2026 BY MOHAMED WARSAMA A factory owner must first make thorough plans before building his manufacturing plant. He cannot simply say I will build a factory without analysing the market for his products. If he doesn't have a market, it's a cinch that the factory will sooner than later collapse. Those who are trumpeting from the mountaintop about the success of Free Education by President Kibaki in primary and President Uhuru in secondary should also be talking about the monumental downside of their initiatives. If you want it bluntly, these two predecessors of William Ruto created a conveyor belt for churning out millions of unemployed but educated youth on the labour market. They have become a potentially volatile force that has rattled the State to its foundations in June 2024 and may again periodically erupt in the future like the volcano on Mt. Etna. By the time Kibaki left office in March 2013, the number of jobless youth was around 1.5m to 2m. When Uhuru handed over to Ruto in September 2022, he left behind a ticking time bomb of almost 5m jobless youth. The number under Ruto now stands at 7m under-employed or jobless youth. Kibaki and Uhuru totally failed to plan how to absorb the millions of youth who were swelling the unemployed ranks every year. They could have built thousands of SME factories in all the 47 counties producing all kinds of products that we normally buy from abroad. Ruto is also making the mistake of following in their footsteps by a single-minded focus on infrastructure projects. Industrial and service projects are equally essential. The youth cannot eat miles and miles of tarmac roads. They must be given jobs as factory hands and the sooner the better. Otherwise, as one Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant candidly observed in 2022: "Those of us in leafy suburbs cannot sleep peacefully at night while those in Eastlands are unemployed poor." Kalonzo and Matiangi should not brag on free education. Because they created a conveyor of thugs. MOHAMED WARSAMA

OPPOSITION VS RUTO: A TWEEDLE DEE TWIDDLE DUM SCENARIO SAT MAY 23 2026 BY MOHAMED WARSAMA IF you are focused on looking at the Opposition in Kenya for transformative leadership and credible alternative to President Ruto, then you are looking at the wrong guys. My advice is you just go to sleep. The 9 characters parading themselves as United Opposition have nothing intrinsically different to offer to Kenyans from what is now on offer from Ruto except to guarantee voters more of the same. Truth to tell we have a Tweedle Dee Tweedle Dum scenario. It is a phrase that refers to two people or things that are nearly identical and practically indistinguishable from one another. It's often used to suggest that there is no meaningful difference between two choices or.options. The Swahili equivalent: is wote gora moja meaning all are from the same bolt ( of cloth). There are 9 so far in the opposition lineup. Nothing exciting about their personalities. They have glaring records in performance and delivery. Whatever they accuse Ruto of now they too were guilty of the same when in office. Take them collectively or individually, you will find that they are not the saviours or reformists young Kenyans are looking for. They are in order of age, James Orengo, 75; Stephen Kalonzo, 72: Justin Muturi, 70; Martha Karua, 68; Rigathi Gachagua, 61; Fred Matiangi, 58; Eugene Wamalwa, 57; George Natembeya, 55; and Edwin Sifuna, 44. They are trying to steal the agenda of the Gen Z movement to ride to victory but the youth are not buying into it. We know them one by one and we know all the issues they are trying to capitalise upon as if they were created overnight by Ruto, not handed down to him through past presidencies. There was a long article in the Ssturday Nation about them and the criteria for choosing one of them to be flag bearer. We will go through them in subsequent articles. MOHAMED WARSAMA

ISAAKIS REENACT BOOK OF NUMBERS FRID MAY 22 2026 BY MOHAMED WARSAMA BOOK of Numbers is the fourth book in the Bible and talks about how Israeli clans began a 38-year journey of migration with their livestock from Egypt to the Promised Land. The title is derived from the numbers of livestock - camels, cattle, sheep and goats -the Israelites had on beginning their migration. On May 18 this year, Isaakis in Secessionist Somaliland who are creative about their ancestry marked 35 years of secession from Somalia. Israeli groups came to join them, first time since Israel recognised the enclave last December 26. Typically, the Israelis advised them to re-enact the migration in the Book of Numbers during the parade in Hargeisa on Monday. One woman brought a sheep. Another brought a she-goat claiming it was in the liberation war 35 years ago. An Isaaki lie since a goat can only live from ten to 15 years and sometimes 18. Then another led a painted cow making one mistakenly think it was a Hindu festival. Lastly a woman marched with a big radio cassette blaring music. In 2003 before he died in South Africa, former Somaliland President Mohamed Ibrahim Egal who led Somaliland into Union with Somalia said in an interview that just as he was sure of the certainty of his death one day, Somaliland will reunite one day with Somalia but after 50 years. Fifteen more years are remaining to 50 years. MOHAMED WARSAMA
