Saidiya Hartman touches on this in _Wayward Lives, Beautiful Experiments_ and connects it to the Victorian ethics early Du Bois expresses academically; once again, black feminists always ahead of the ball on questions of sexual racism and racially (un)gendered violation.
Philosopher-King Miron 👑@eihtbeezy

My homie watching this just texted me and I didn’t know Du Bois was raped by a woman when he was at Fisk. Idk why Du Bois scholars don’t write about this more. Well, yes I do…but still…

@CJ_Haslett @waweru 1. You just proved you’ve no clue what you’re talking about and every other time you talk over Kenyans it’s been based on no evidentiary basis aiming only to dismiss them (see, “atrocity porn”). 2. Please don’t ever worm your way into my mentions again. I don’t talk to your kind.

@groundZero254 @legallychubby Happily, the historical record does not rely on what you find easy or hard to believe. You don't get to debate things that colonialists themselves have admitted to doing. Here's a report from the Royal Air Force that did the bombing. What does it say? raf.mod.uk/what-we-do/cen…

Capital owner cannot genuinely strike. The issue is their bottom line, you have momentary alignment of interests, but the minute their interests are met, strike is off.

When colonial administrators left Kenya, they recorded their experiences here. None acts like their actions are easily get-overable. Ni nyinyi tu mnakwanga hapa mkisema, “Stop blaming colonialism.” Meanwhile, even colonialists are like, “Yeah actually, that shit is our fault.”

And the funny thing is, even the colonialists themselves, in their moments of candor, often own up and accept that they did insane shit that Africans, Kenyans, can’t easily recover from. Ni nyinyi ndio mnakimbianga kuwasamehe.

You’d collapse when you hear of sieges, entire kingdoms “utterly wrecked and destroyed,” people being hunted down and enslaved, in what is Kenya today. Anyone who looks at the history of colonialism and goes, “Nah, could never let that shit affect me past 1963” is simply lying.

It’s funny. It’s frustrating. Mind you, this is during decolonisation. There’s the period of conquest. Mmezoea tu story za “Tuliuzwa.” You think colonialism was Nabongo Mumia signing a treaty. That’s your working definition. Ndio maana you’re so convinced inaisha tu hivyo.

You people have no clue of the physical damage alone that colonialism entailed daily, and the retrogression it caused. Which is why you’re utterly flatfooted when those who understand it slightly more tell you that you can’t recover from it in two generations. It’s really funny.

“Not a single bomb was dropped on [colonial Kenya by Britain]. The British dropped 6million bombs on Kenya between 1952 to 1961. So many bombs were dropped in the Aberdares region that police routinely get called to when undetonated bombs are found.
Ian@Ianm996

@dr_levisdamian @svorgud @bintiswahiliya I refuse to believe other humans subjected us so bad, we’re still struggling to recover, 60 years later. Not a single bomb was dropped on us but it’s like we’re recovering from a nuclear catastrophe, how did japan get where they are today?

“cultural life and religion” are political matters. like, define politics (20marks).
STF@tekinsaeko

@wmnjoya No it is not, colonialism goes way beyond being just a political thing. It affects your cultural life, religion and way much more than what politics is. Reducing it to just politics and labelling everything as 'white liberal' for your convenience is hypocritical.
