They just tasked a California Transportation Commission to come up with recommendations by 2027 to be able to implement a per mile tax that would charge you 2 to 9 cents for every single mile that you drive. And you know why that's insane? Because we're talking about families of two or maybe even three paying an extra of $1,200 to $4,200 every single year just to drive” The proposed per-mile tax (often called a Road Usage Charge or mileage-based fee) in California would apply to non-EV vehicles as well, not just electric vehicles.

Exactly my point. Using UBI is working under the guise of “helping” Americans when in reality you are sending out checks every month that are not even enough for rent or food, then there will be restrictions on where you can use that money (just like welfare), ultimately controlling the business who make money through this process. If you really want to help ppl get out of poverty, you would focus on either teaching financial literacy or bringing attention the large corporations who have purchased majority of our homes. They easily control the market and yet still refuse to lower costs. Address the problem don’t pacify people to funnel money to yourself.
