Regular readers of this page know that there are some major policies, projects, and initiatives of the current Ghanaian government that I have been tracking consistently. Normally because they have much to teach about sound governance. The Tradefair is one of them. As this government winds to a close, I am bringing the final episodes of the saga. Attached, find aerial photography and videos of the project site as of this morning. 1. As you can see, and contrary to what PR agents of the Tradefair management have been saying, there has been no change in affairs since my last report (see thread for link to that report). 2. The so called convention center works that were hurriedly started ahead of the elections were an elaborate scam. They have been abandoned since the ruling party's defeat. No foundation earthworks were done so they never really meant to build any structure. A "Potemkin village", so to speak. 3. For those not familiar with the Tradefair project, the short story is that a ruling party executive in North America, an optometrist, was brought down to manage Ghana's most important exhibition center. What happened after is detailed in the essay on my blog posted in this thread. 4. She started by demolishing businesses on the ground even before a bankable redevelopment plan had been created. That bankable plan was never done. Instead, a stream of opaque and shady deals were announced. After 8 years, the videos and pictures you see here are all there is. 5. A group of very eminent Ghanaians in Europe and the US tried to build a science and tech park at the Tradefair. Some of the members run and/or are on the boards of multibillion-dollar US and European corporations. They were frustrated until they abandoned the effort. All because they refused to submit to the under-the-table demands of powerbrokers. 6. Tradefair is just one of hundreds of such projects the new government will inherit. If I have learnt anything about politics in Ghana, it is that the same kind of dealmakers always pop up in every administration. The kind of mess we have seen at Tradefair is thus ALMOST GUARANTEED to recur there or somewhere else. 7. The only way to avoid such outcomes is for there to be CRITICAL voices within the ruling party itself. Nothing else works. If you support the new government, sacrifice some of your comforts and become an INSIDER-CRITIC. 8. As for us in the "permanent opposition", we will do our modest bit to keep a tab on things. Alongside our other 4 or 5 jobs that pay the bills. 20 years of recent Ghana history have shown, however, that politicians aren't moved by that. 9. All contracts signed with all manner of entities in relation to Tradefair, including those that have given anyone title or access to land inside the place, SHOULD be LEAKED. 10. We will be here to dissect any Intel we receive from our beloved and trusted whistleblowers for our dear readers. 🙏🏽

They were insensitive. They didn’t respect us. They were cruel to us. They insulted our intelligence and gaslighted us for fun. They deserve every form of defeat and downfall. They deserve it.

I will never forget that E-Levy cake. The tone-deafness of it. The disregard. The disrespect. Don’t ever ask me to care, or be considerate, of a Gh politician’s well-being or even worse, feelings.

They’ve secured a proper life for their children. American,Canadian, British passports. Green cards, student VISAs. Multiple ways to make it even if they miraculously lose all the millions of dollars they’ve looted. It’s time to secure a proper life for yourself and your children. #FreetheCitizens
