@GergelyOrosz I have found this to be pretty common in tech. Google bought Twitter competitor Jaiku ('07) but chose to partner with Twitter on public launches instead.

Even more confused at why Musk would be “open to the idea” of buying Substack, without realizing that Twitter already had their own Substack - Revue! - that he just destroyed a few weeks ago. Revue was a smaller team than Substack, integrated w Twitter. pcmag.com/news/musk-open…

This could be no accident: it was Jack Dorsey who acquired newsletter service Revue early 2021. Under Elon’s Twitter, Revue will be shut down by the end of 2022, the majority of the Netherlands-based team already fired. Jack starts using Revue weeks before it’s due to shutdown…
