Three brilliant pieces have been written this year that really get to the queasy spirit of our age: @danielkolitz on its obsessive compulsions @deankissick on its visual images @joliverconroy on its spiritual beliefs One could say that all three talk about the same thing - the creation of an uncanny reality, a change in what it means to be human, and the search for a god of our own making. harpers.org/archive/2025/1… spikeartmagazine.com/articles/vulga… theguardian.com/global/ng-inte…

@Lawyer_Saheba power to you. their whole statement is so lame and like literally their bio has he/they pronouns so like the whole clinging onto identity to wash away their disgusting behavior is even worse.

Sad, disgusted, & angry. I want to respond to every word, but I’m just so tired & hopeless right now. My apologies to all the other survivors who shared their experiences and deserve so much more, at the very least, an apology. My heart goes out to each of you. In solidarity.

If you want to see a complete meltdown, the next time a Western leftist tells you to read Marx, tell them to read Ambedkar and Césaire. Tell them you’ll discuss Marx with them when they can discuss these 2 theorists with you. Ambedkar high key has more economic theory than Marx.

sorry for the half baked thought but growing up I saw the 50s/60s/70s/80s as such distinct decades with their own culture and clothes etc. but the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s are so much less distinct in my mind. is that distinct character just something that calcifies with time or??

This should surprise no one who has actually read The Judgment, or who has followed Chandrachud’s long career on the bench. In India, what so often passes for progressiveness is really just a liberal-linguistic performance: the right words strung together, and regular reassurances to the public that constitutional courts are still working, even if imperfectly. But look closer. Chandrachud is not only aligned with the Sangh, though he is. He is also a man of immense ambition. When the history of India’s constitutional destruction is written, both father and son will occupy prominent, troubling chapters.

The "very erection" of Babri mosque was the "fundamental act of desecration", DY Chandrachud tells me. A startling statement -- all the more given the verdict he co-authored clearly says no evidence was supplied to show if the earlier structure was demolished to build a mosque. it actually annoys me so much when we only hold “illiteracy” as a function which fuels communalism. The likes of DYC, “the educated and rational” type of upper caste people are worse. They hide behind jargon and deception to further bigotry and divisive policies.
