@liv16_liv I think Charles was absolutely not joking around when he said that Mercedes is hiding a lot, not like the others that were just throwing names. I just hope that this time he would at least have a shot at the that championship fight to which he always has belonged.

How do you even change the geometric compression ratio when the piston is fixed by the crank? Beyond that I would expect the conrod to expand which would very minimally offset both the TDC/BDC positions. The cylinder bore would expand, which again, gets offset by the expansion of the piston crown. I guess they could somewhat change the characteristics by using different materials, but it seems well below what is being suggested. Don't see how it could be related to thermal expansion, especially not a 16:1 to 18:, seems very unlikely. They have to be altering the dynamic compression in a completely unique way.

@technorodrigo That is what’s worrying me even more, the fact the Ferrari is not politically backed enough to make them take actions against the cheaters. at least not before Melbourne.

@brakeboosted That’s what Ferrari is missing: the political sway, that Mercedes has been maintaining for years. They always prefer to lay low and let others benefit from it all. I’m just not ready for another 2019 hit…

@brakeboosted Got it! It’s inevitable as you said, which also was the case at the beginning of the previous regulations. You would hope that the design is fundamentally expandable so you can have the freedom of improving it.

@nadiacl16 No, it's not about solving them all at once, that's an unrealistic expectation to have, but it's rather about being able to solve them quickly. That mean not limiting yourself with design choices. In a metaphorical sense, you want to develop a chameleon.
