Today we played “find the turkey” - the kids had to guess which of our learned sounds the paper turkey was hiding under! We are using our @spelfabet embedded mnemonics as a scaffold for our beginning students.

During a walk with your child, challenge your little one to hop from one crunchy leaf to another! Talk about how loud each leaf is, all while keeping your child active! “That leaf was really loud! How loud do you think the leaf over there will be?” #TalkingIsTeaching

My new favourite game to play. Push down on the cute pug and he reveals the colour of his tongue! Great to reward a Ss who has identified a beginning sound, but also fun to do while segmenting the sounds in a word.

One of our amazing Kindergarten teachers using a sound as a doorbell. Every time a student enters the classroom the doorbell signal is the sound they see on the door! I love this idea! @TVDSBLiteracy @dwrighttvdsb @PrincipalBlenh1
