Great turn-out last night! Many educators joined us to learn about the L.I.F.T. Project! The team arranged amazing displays of essential tools for all classrooms to have & shared their best practices in a “Rock star” presentation! Can’t wait for next year!

Beginning of year screening for K includes 1st sound fluency (I say word, they identify 1st sound). One student not at benchmark so we spend a few minutes each day working on this skill 1:1. Love this kit w objects for practice! (“What’s a newspaper?” 😂) lakeshorelearning.com/products/langu…

Today is DLD awareness day #DLDday! Bringing awareness to a Language Disorder affecting 1 in 14 children. DLD impacts how you speak and understand language including literacy and social development. Informed educators and therapists can make a difference!

Thanks for sharing this clear distinction between #Speech vs. #Language, @ExpressableHQ! Developmental Language Disorder is related to a child's use and understanding of Language. #DLD impacts a child socially, academically and emotionally #DLDday
Expressable@ExpressableHQ

Do you know the difference between speech and language? While often used interchangeably, there are important distinctions between speech and language disorders that you should look for when assessing your child’s communication skills #speechtherapy #childdevelopment #parenting

Today we played “find the turkey” - the kids had to guess which of our learned sounds the paper turkey was hiding under! We are using our @spelfabet embedded mnemonics as a scaffold for our beginning students.

During a walk with your child, challenge your little one to hop from one crunchy leaf to another! Talk about how loud each leaf is, all while keeping your child active! “That leaf was really loud! How loud do you think the leaf over there will be?” #TalkingIsTeaching

My new favourite game to play. Push down on the cute pug and he reveals the colour of his tongue! Great to reward a Ss who has identified a beginning sound, but also fun to do while segmenting the sounds in a word.
