North Carolina needs a budget that values our students and their teachers.

I am standing in full solidarity with the thousands of NC teachers marching for fair pay and proper school funding. Some facts: - NC is 50th in public school funding - NC is 46th in teacher pay - Wake County faces $16M in cuts this year Today, our educators are putting everything on the line to ensure every student gets the resources they deserve.

Today, my office and a bipartisan coalition are announcing the shutdown of Purdue Pharma.   Under the Sacklers’ control, Purdue developed, manufactured, and misleadingly marketed its deadly opioids, destroying communities and fueling the opioid crisis across the country.

I turned out for the teachers rally to support Wake County educators. Our teachers are underpaid, overworked, and underappreciated. It's time for North Carolina to invest in our public schools and give our teachers a raise.
