Dear Mina Community,
This week marks the final chapter of my journey with the Mina Foundation alongside the incredible APAC team. Today is not just about stepping away from a role—it’s a moment of reflection on a truly special chapter of my life.
To be honest, writing this has been hard. I’m filled with a deep sense of gratitude—and, admittedly, a touch of regret. One that I couldn’t contribute in solving essential problems and deliver for the community that placed their trust in us and stood by us every step of the way.
When I joined the Foundation in January 2024, my mission was clear: rebuild the Asian ecosystem. From the PoC with Mirae Asset Financial Group in Korea, to zkML library, @PunkPoll, and the Mina Seoul Week, to reigniting the Chinese community with @OpenBuildxyz , launching @realDinoDex in Vietnam and @akindo_io in Japan—we worked to prove that programmable ZK can go beyond rollups and become something fundamentally useful, even for end users.
But as shared in Mina Foundation-o(1)’s recent AMA, we as a protocol still have many important fundamental work ahead. Leadership made the difficult but necessary decision to restructure and focus all cryptographic, engineering, and the rest of the resources on improving the core protocol. We understand and support this pivot—and it is with that understanding that we now part ways to embark on new journeys.
To the Mina community: thank you. Since January last year, I’ve been overwhelmed by your kindness and support. I only wish I could’ve reflected that advocacy with greater outcomes. Wherever I go, your support and advocacy will stay with me, and I will remain a proud supporter of Mina and will try to find ways I could be helpful. Please, if you are a Mina supporter, always feel free to DM.
I also want to express my heartfelt thanks to those who walked this journey with me—@itsjoonkim, who saw potential in me and hired me ; @khem, who always had my back and provided stability and optimism in global remote work environment; @WillCove, my manager, mentor, and wise strategic leader; @FehligMollie, a financial leader with the special ability to see through complexities to the core; @evanashapiro, whose good hearted intention and deep humility have left a lasting impression; and to everyone at the Foundation—my gratitude runs deep. I strongly believe public blockchains are the zeitgeist of the our era—where more people than ever are generating value through digital participation, and where that value must be measured, recognized, and distributed transparently.
Inspired by Danny Ryan’s insight: what makes this moment existential is that, for the first time, the world is truly ready to adopt the values and systems of Web3.0. It is essential that the next phase of the internet be built on open, decentralized, and permissionless infrastructure—not another iteration of corporate-dictated networks.
The time for a global on-chain economy—where users can own, earn, and remain sovereign—is now.
