How do Kenyans actually navigate the financial realities of seeking healthcare? @felistusmbole and @natellous share early insights from the FSD Kenya, Ekko Insights and Georgetown University healthcare financial diaries study, revealing three important shifts shaping health-seeking and financing behaviour. First, there has been a move towards digital payments, driven in part by the 2016 waiver on transaction fees for amounts below KShs 100. This has made it easier for households to manage small, frequent health related expenses. Second, persistent medication stock-outs in public facilities mean communities rely heavily on private pharmacies. While this fills a critical gap, it also introduces new risks including inconsistent quality of care and increased use of alternative medicines. Third, proximity does not always equal access, with many patients, especially those with chronic conditions, still needing to travel to higher level facilities for treatment. The cost and time involved remain a significant barrier. Read more: fsdkenya.org/blogs-publicat… This blog is one of the entries in FSD Kenya’s 2025 annual report. Good morning patriots. Here is something I want you to reflect. It seems like our artists know what they are doing and making a mockery of us. @bienaimesol sang "Tujiangalie." A whole song asking Africans to look in the mirror. To think carefully about the leaders they choose and the symbols they carry. It was sharp. It was necessary. People loved it. And then he had dinner with Macron. And now he is on stage dressed like Mobutu Sese Seko. Let that sink in slowly. Mobutu Sese Seko, the man who looted the DRC for 32 years, renamed the country Zaire, stole billions while his people starved, and did all of it with the full backing of the West, including France, wore that exact leopard skin as his signature. It was not just fashion. It was his brand. His symbol. The uniform of a man who performed African identity while selling Africa out from under his own people. And Bien, fresh from breaking bread with the French, walked on stage in the same leopard print. The French must have been very entertained. See, symbols are not just clothes. A leopard skin cap does not mean nothing. It carries history. It carries blood. It carries the memory of a man whose corruption was so spectacular that the DRC has never recovered from it and whose relationship with France was exactly the kind of relationship that "Tujiangalie" was supposed to warn us about. Doing this straight from dinning with the French and wearing like Mobutu was so cringe and insensitive. You cannot sing about self reflection on a Friday and dress like a Western-backed African dictator on a Saturday. That is not an artistic statement. That is irony walking on two legs in a very expensive outfit. We are looking, @bienaimesol . Tujiangalie, indeed. I know some will be quick with "his attire, his choice" but don't forget the symbolism in it. Dismas wa Tabu. Dreaming in installments. Billed in full.

Yes #TukoKadi, and we encourage as many eligible voters as possible to get on board and have their say in our next general elections. Kazi nyingine muhimu ni kuelewa mandate ya the 6 elective positions before we cast a vote🧵 So what does the constitution say? We have prepared these simple infographics to unpack the respective roles of Members of Parliament (Single Member Constituencies, Woman Representatives, Senators), Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), Governors and the President. Through these infographics, we hope you can understand the distinct and separate roles assigned to each leadership position and how they relate to each other for cohesive governance. Our national Parliament is a bicameral Parliament meaning it has two distinct chambers namely, the National Assembly and the Senate. In the National Assembly, there are 290 single constituency representatives, 47 woman representatives and 12 nominated members. The Senate consists of 47 elected Senators representing each county and 20 nominated Senators. 1. What are the responsibilities and powers vested in the position of a Member of Parliament sitting in the National Assembly? See below👇

I'm sorry but there's absolutely no outfit that can stretch to accommodate a size like size 6 to size 10 and certainly not a corset. I have seen someone selling a corset and the size is 6-10 or another 10-14. That's just not possible

People saying “my parents let me suffer the beatings the next day so I learnt not to leave homework undone”. How about you inculcate a culture such that when your kids grow they’ll be saying, “my parents always ensured my homework was properly done and checked every night!”

We keep calling people "mentally ill" when they're drowning in conditions no human nervous system can survive. You can't regulate when rent is late, the fridge is empty, and danger is normal. This is not a disorder, it's adaptation. The real sickness is the environment. If your basic needs aren't met, you will suffer. If you live in chaos, your mind will have to adapt to chaos. If you never feel safe, you cannot feel whole. The message is simple: people aren't broken. their environments are. Until we create conditions where people can breathe, rest, and belong, "mental illness" will keep being a label slapped on pain that was never irrational in the first place. Shift the question from "What is wrong with you?" to "What has happened to you, and what do you need to feel safe?"
