@dmurray59 @ajsrugby Saints were always going to feel a salary cap squeeze in our backline & I thought we’d lose one of Smith, Freeman, Mitchell or Furbank. Furbs is 29 & injury prone, as class as he is when fit he’s probably the least worst to lose, especially with Hendy/Pater coming through at 15.

Why haven’t Huddersfield grown in 25+ years?
Tens of millions in central funding, plus millions more from Davy.
Questions need to be asked of the ability of those in charge at the club, have they got the expertise to grow the club, why don’t the people of Huddersfield care?

The owner of Midlands Hurricanes became interested in RL because we went to games at uni. His construction company became major sponsors of Hudds before he bought Midlands.

"Rarely" ≠ never, I am an example, but it's not certain that Hudds would get long-term support from student discounts

@Will_T_Smith_ @AmateurishRL Had a quick look and the first 5 teams I checked across both codes (Saints, Leeds, Warrington, Northampton, Leicester) all have young adult discounts. So it’s something common that other clubs are doing that Huddersfield are too stupid/apathetic to do.

@nathan_wake @AmateurishRL This is a problem in all sports. At Sale Sharks we have an 18-24 age category for tickets and it means we attract students at the universities across Manchester for matches, and it evidently works. But yet no one else does it really.

@AmateurishRL I went to uni at Huddersfield and there was zero effort to advertise/engage with the students there. No student discount at all. No promo. 15,000 potential new fans refreshing every few years, 99% of which don’t have a clue the club exists.

@dplockhart @BrianODriscoll I’ve seen a fair bit of this recently. Let’s not forget the reason he hasn’t got a lot more caps is that the player ahead of him in the 12 shirt has been one of the best and most consistent 12’s in world rugby over the last 7-8 years.
