Average Bitcoiner in 2017: “Give me liberty or give me death.”
Average Bitcoiner in 2026:

I don’t run a node or mine, and I don’t want to. Individuals storing data on chain does not affect me, impact my decisions, or change my mind about the efficacy of putting data on chain. I’ll never see it, look at it, look for it, nothing. It’s completely irrelevant to me, a stakeholder of the Bitcoin network. Sorry, the hill you would die on, for me, is not even a bump in the road.

The World Cup has turned America into a discovery channel for the rest of the world.
And they are not handling it well.
In the best possible way.
Here is what they are discovering:
Free public restrooms. Europeans pay every time.
Free water at every restaurant. Just appears.
Free refills. Coffee. Sodas. Iced tea. Unlimited.
Free chips and salsa before you even order.
Free warm bread with dinner.
Ice in drinks like civilized people.
Air conditioning everywhere. Not a moral debate. A fact.
Parking lots attached to the actual place you are going.
Drive throughs where the food comes to the car while you sit in it.
Ranch dressing by the gallon.
Tex-Mex that cannot be explained only experienced.
Dental care that actually works.
Buccee’s. There are no words for Buccee’s.
Then they found the grocery stores.
Five of them within one mile.
Each one the size of an aircraft hangar.
Burgers. Steaks. Brisket. Ribs. Pulled pork. Lamb. Veal. Every cut of every animal ever domesticated by human civilization available in one refrigerated aisle at ten in the morning on a Tuesday.
The Germans stood in the meat section for forty five minutes.
In silence.
Processing.
They finally understand why we do not have trains.
We have roads wide enough for the cars we actually drive.
Parking lots the size of small European countries.
Airports in every city worth visiting.
Why would we need trains.
The Germans are taking ranch home by the bottle.
The Dutch found queso and briefly lost the ability to speak.
The Japanese are photographing HEB like it is the Louvre.
The Czechs are weeping in West, Texas.
Welcome to America!
The greatest country on earth.

@DavidBranscum What a great post, I am so sorry to hear about your father, David. 🧡

Not many people on here know him, but my dad passed away in his sleep last night. He went peacefully losing a long battle. He was a bit of a sad clown. Made everyone else laugh, struggled with his own internal stuff. But always put other people first. In every interaction. When something bad happened, he didn't call. He showed up. He lived his entire life in service to others.
In kindergarten we had an assignment to draw a picture of our hero. Lots of Superman and He-Man pictures, I drew my dad and I playing. He left a corporate job, so he could be present at home. He raised four kids as a minister with no salary increase for about 8 years. He fought for my special needs brother to have the right classroom in school by sitting in front of the principals office door, since the guy kept dodging him. Incredibly gentle, incredibly tough.
When I was ten, I asked him why he was so nice to annoying people. He said, "Acts of compassion and kindness multiply. The receiver feels better, the giver feels better, and everyone else who sees it feels better. Your motivation or willingness is irrelevant. Doing the right thing requires action, and it's not always easy."
There is never enough time with the ones we love. Forgive, appreciate, go see them right now.
And if you want a bit of a laugh, go read my dad's timeline. Almost no views and no likes. Except for me. I love them all.

@AdamBLiv @Phil96969696 “Bitcoin is going to win via pragmatism.”
Yes.
I personally relate to the ideals of the Bitcoin idealists but also understand reality & like to win.
Because I relate to their ideals, I enjoy the conversation & debate, but from a business perspective view them as irrelevant.
English

"We can't have Bitcoin be held by the deep state with custodians"
but
"We should totally allow the 640 million retirees out there needing income to continue funding the deep state rather than getting income through a non-government entity who is carrying Bitcoin"
The idealists are nonsensical.
Bitcoin is going to win via pragmatism.
