@Lil__Alien_ tbh-- just a typical caffeine dose for an espresso. Some of the other old-school shops-- such as La Blanca- do a VERY long extraction with an insane caffeine level.

🇲🇽☕️🏆POV: I’m trying to find the best espresso in Mexico City. Today I stopped by Cafe Equis in the centro histórico. Founded in 1930 it’s 1 of the city’s oldest coffee shops. They make a very old-school style of espresso. Where should I go next?

@alexjgomezb 🇲🇽☕️Cafe Equis is one of the coolest old-school places I've been, Exploradores is one of the best and their Napoli beans are my favorite for making espresso at home. BUNA in Doctores is cool, too. There are a lot of places people have recommended that I haven't been to yet...

🇲🇽☕️🙂POV: is this the best espresso in Mexico City? I stopped by the Exploradores Club de Cafe in the Santa Fe neighborhood. This coffee shop is ranked among the world’s top 100. I tried an espresso made with their Piazza beans. Very good! Where should I go next?🏆☕️

🇲🇽🇺🇸🚔very interesting analysis here - Sheinbaum is taking down criminal groups but not going after politicians who protect organized crime. Is that enough to appease Trump?
Will Freeman@WillGFreeman

I spoke to The Dispatch about Claudia Sheinbaum's impressive violence reduction record. The magnitude is contested, but the trend is real. Still, I note she is unlikely to purge Morena of figures with credible allegations of crime ties like Rocha Moya. thedispatch.com/newsletter/mor…

🇲🇽🚗🧨NYT: "The CIA provided intel & planning support for a recent operation against a cartel operative inside Mexico, but was not on the ground when Mexican authorities killed the man, according to a former official &others briefed on the operation." nytimes.com/2026/05/12/wor…

🇺🇸🇲🇽🚗🔥🧨"The Beltran [car bomb] operation was part of an expanded, and previously unreported, CIA campaign inside Mexico — spearheaded by the agency’s elite & secretive Ground Branch — to dismantle the entrenched cartel networks. Since last year, CIA operatives inside Mexico have directly participated in deadly attacks on several, mostly mid-level cartel members," CNN reports. edition.cnn.com/2026/05/12/pol…
Ioan Grillo@ioangrillo

This a huge explosive story by CNN alleging the CIA was behind a car bomb attack on a Sinaloan narco on the outskirts of Mexico City. Such an attack would go beyond previous operations here and obviously be highly illegal in Mexico. The story also has holes and raises questions..

🇲🇽🇺🇸👮"The indictment of sitting officials from Morena, President Sheinbaum’s party, represents 1 of the most consequential of [Trump's] threats. Its timing is not incidental. It comes at a moment of acute bilateral tension, just before the formal review of the USMCA Agreement."

@mennnonnita Similar quality level but very different- exploradores’ piazza roast is a more traditional Italian style and BUNA’s is very modern w more citrus flavor. Roasted coffee vs coffee fruit. Both good!

Here's another recent espresso stop at BUNA in the Doctores neighborhood. I've been visiting a mix of coffee shops, both historic and super modern, looking for the best espresso in Mexico City. Lots of great coffee from Veracruz, Oaxaca, and other states. x.com/NathanielParis…
